Watch the inset (top left corner) - shows the view from a rear-facing camera. The guy driving the BMW is obviously not happy that the person driving in front of him paused to give way to the school bus. He clearly did not like the act of courtesy.

So he overtook the car at completely the wrong place, his judgement clouded by anger probably.

Yes, this is USA - looks like the Albany-Troy-Schenectady area in New York state.

Can't help but admire the design of the parapet wall. The gently sloping ramp at the start definitely saved the BMW from crashing into it.

Just imagine the same incident with an abruptly starting wall (as you would find on our roads), that BMW would have had a dangerous frontal impact.

re: Accidents in India | Pics & Videos

Came across this video a few days back on WhatsApp. Don't know if it has been already posted here or not, did not see it in the past two weeks.

Clearly a case of DUI. But if one just sees the accident post facto, it may look like the tipper turned sharply to take out the car off the highway. Without the video, it may be hard to convince the authorities otherwise and the truck driver will be in a lot of trouble for no fault of his.

Happened to come across a FB post from a friend's friend who met with an accident enroute airport in an Uber in Vizag. Her post depicts utter disrespect and cowardly behavior from Uber and pathetic state of affairs at the airport. Vizag airport apparently doesn't have first aid.

The plain take away from this thread is, now in India - Front dash cam is now a necessity & not a fashion statement anymore. Also lately realised rear cam is also equally necessary. With the number of vehicles getting registered everyday which is ever increasing & also the mental state of the road users ever deteriorating, makes sense.

Indeed. I wonder why dashcams are not made mandatory by the government or manufactures... also helmets should be a part of every two wheeler sale.

I'm sorry, but it never was a "fashion statement". It only has to do with awareness.

Pedestrian mowed down by a vehicle on 12/10/2016 near Kolambakkam on the highway towards Chennai. Vehicles are driven very fast on this stretch from what i have seen and the pedestrians sometimes jump from the median to cross the road.

Warning: Body visible in video.

On 15/10/2016 while I was driving back from Chennai I witnessed the aftermath of another accident involving a Toyota Etios in which 3 SRM students were killed. Two persons who lost their lives on the spot were laid on the median with people around them. A per news there were 6 people on board, 3 passed away and 3 survived including the driver.

Spotted a 3-car pile-up at Karunagapally (KL) today around 8:30pm. A white Swift (new car with For Regn sticker) had rear-ended a Logan, with some serious damage to the Logan. There was another Swift parked a little away with its rear damaged - presumably by the Logan. No idea of the sequence of events, though it had happened just a couple mins before I passed the place, since the guys in white Swift were just getting out of the car.

It was drizzling & visibility was poor - both of which coupled with human error (tailgating, late braking) could've caused the shunt.

Joyride gone bad! Excerpts from news reports -

Quote:
Preliminary investigation revealed the students were heading to Murthal for food in a self-drive rental Scorpio when the youngster driving it lost control, police added. The tractor was carrying bricks, which fell on three of the badly injured students when they struggled out of the SUV, said police.
All three died, police added. The SUV was badly mangled on impact and gas cutters had to be used to pull out some of the students, said police. A passerby, Parmanand Dubey, who was returning home in Rajouri Garden after attending a function, informed police about the collision, which occurred around 2 am
Quote:
The collision occurred near the Grand Orchid and Tivoli Farmhouse,” said a senior police officer. “The entire left portion of the car was completely damaged. Shikhar, Ujjawal and Rajesh struggled out of the SUV and the bricks in the tractor fell on them,” the officer added.

My God. This is a horrific crash. The Scorpio reduced to a can of crushed tin. It's sad to see young lives lost in such tragedies. May they rest in peace. I wonder what was the speed of impact. I have seen quite a few young boys hiring zoom cars and driving fast and reckless.

I am very very sure:

THIS WAS SOME CAR !!

Jokes aside, I have a hunch that though the collision seems quite severe, the pic is post a rescue/retrieval operation. That is clearly been torn apart by cutters.

Another report of an early morning crash in Delhi leaves two dead and three injured. The Hyundai crushed as it somersaulted. Looks like a Creta. NDTV reporting http://m.ndtv.com/delhi-news/delhis-...2-dead-1475134
