This _IS_ the average bangalorean in traffic. (educated/uneducated and to what extent does not matter - software/MBA guy or not does not matter either) - they are just so clueless about how to drive/ride .

The root cause I believe is the "bangalorean" way when it comes to licenses - I can move the vehicle right , left, forward and somewhat backwards - I can now drive - let me call the friendly neighborhood RTO agent and get a license !

Its not only in B'lore mate, the same thing is happening in Hyderabad also. I almost had a moronic bike rider with a girl as pillion who wanted to come on the wrong side of the flyover to save a few metres. I also met with an accident this Monday morning just to save a moronic bike rider. Sometimes I feel these moronic bike riders, not only are they absolutely stupid, they like to show off in female company.

@techn0l0gist & MileCruncher, I completely agree with both of you; Bangalore by personal experience and Hyderabad - my bro-in-law laments every time i see him about the crazy drivers in Hyderabad. Before shifting to Bangalore, i thought Pune drivers were nothing short of morons. But Bangalore has changed my perception; Pune seems to be better, maybe because of the lesser vehicle population. I had the best regards for Chennai traffic (from my college days) but i don't think that's true anymore. I travel every weekend to Chennai and driving there these days is as miserable as in Bangalore or Hyderabad or Delhi.

But one thing techn0l0gist said is quiet true. It doesn't matter if you are educated or not - people are just mean, they want to get away first, no matter what the cost is... and until such times changes we can guarantee that this thread will continued to be filled with more and more accidents

saw an accident yesterday morning near parimal crossings, with getz and a auto rickshaw involved, auto's front was damaged and top was bended inside, left part and front glass was shattered, getz driver side ORVM was damaged and front fender had some bruises, seemed auto might have toppled over, driver was injuerd and was taked in ambulance.
couldnot take a picture but bystanders said auto driver was speeding too high and hit the car and toppled over.Luckly auto was not having any passengers.

No wonder the way these buses take turns at high speeds an event like this was waiting to happen. They (drivers) normally indulge in speeding especially while the signal is about to turn Red and they are to take a right/left turn.

Here are a few pictures of a terrible accident that took place last night. Some teenagers had gone for a drive in an Alto last night. What I've heard from a few sources is that the accident happened on the roads that lead to Nandi Hills (Bangalore). Some of the occupants are critical. The car is a write off. Some things remain unclear. More information is on its way.

It seems to be a horrific accident.

Just by looking at the cabin intrusion and blood stains on the interior, its quite clear that the occupants are critical.

As far as the Alto accident goes, I think they have either rear ended a CV or banged head on with CV. The lower part of front end, one that is designed to absorb energy during impact is untouched. The base of A-pillar has taken a lot of hit. Nothing much can be done in this case. This is one more case of high set CV that take a toll on life.

The protection like the bar to prevent cars from going under the truck need to lower. Also they must have similar bar at the front too, running across the entire width of the CV.

Don't question his salary. He had probably worked hard to get his salary. We're no one to judge or comment on his earnings. Having said that, we're in a position to comment on his idiocy for not purchasing a helmet along with his new bike. Being a software engineer, you expect some level of understanding and common sense but education doesn't get you common sense.

You're probably right there! But what I'd heard from a friend is that they were under the influence and were driving recklessly and lost control. They apparently crashed into a big stone! The rest is quite unclear.
