Bull bars, good or bad??

No doubt bull bars look macho but it is not worth it.... It might be effective in case of minor accidents but I feel the bumpers in most of the cars today can take this impact comfortably. Chasis of the car would be badly damaged including the bumper and body of the car in case of major collisions.... So it's a big NO as far as I am concerned...

One of the concern with bull bars is safety of pedestrians and the chances of potential damage to other vehicles on the road. The bumpers are designed keeping in mind the safety aspect of all road sharing creatures and accordingly shouldn't be tampered with.

While it is true what you have mentioned, the image is that of my safari. I was wanting to post a pic of the Scorpio as well..Now how do I post a snap here??

They are only fit for crawling speed impacts, general roadside brushes and the macho look. They sometimes can be a pain in low to medium speed impacts. The bullbars tend to bend inwards and cause more damage.

My friend had a front collision at low speed which ideally should have resulted in a minor dent & bumper damage but the bullbars had bent and smashed the headlights.

One should surely have a bullbar if you want to get the chassis bent...its the easiest way to do it...

the bullbars do help when u r off roading through the bushes and keep the smaller branches away

I had seen a Tata Spacio having a bull bar bang a rickshaw on the rear. The bull bar broke from the center and the broken part went through the small duct on the lower part of the bumper to rip the radiator off!

I don't think it makes sense to puncture your chassis to add on what is a dead weight. An SUV doesnt really need any more protection from impacts - its bulk and build make up for it. Go in or a model where the manufacturer has a bull-bar on the SUV model

What would you say. will a bull bar , sidesteps & Read Bar look good on New Type Ford Fusion.Does anybody make/sell Fiber & Steel Bullbar in Mumbai . Any help/feedback will help me decide.
