That's horrible.

You end up only here when you trust other drivers for your survival

It was to prevent such accidents that all new CVs need to have anti crash bar in front and rear. From the looks of it, this bus was very old. This rule should be made for all new and OLD LCVs too.
When you hit a bus that high, crumple zones to not matter, the entire impact was taken by the upper half of the car. When manufacturers test cars for crashes they collide with obstacles at same level, not such scenarios.
But then, looking at teh damage, it appears that the merc was being driven very very rashly! As for bus drivers, they never give way.

From the windows, it appears its a Kerala PVT bus
EDIT: it is, Thrissur I presume.

@ TSK : indeed a Kerala Pvt bus... running on the Trichur routes, from what i could make out.

As for the Merc being driven rashly/high speeds, that was mentioned by maxbhp.

Another thing I noticed, the bus is off road. I wonder if he could have given more way.

Initially the bus was lying on the road , that too on the left side. The car was lying on the right side with its front facing the sidewalk. The driver of the bus is going to regret this the rest of the life along with the owner of the bus coz this man is surely going to ruin these people bigtime. He is extremely rich and powerful. Another thing is strangely they say the car never slowed down a bit , it was trying to squeeze through, .......horrific crash indeed .

Thats a nasty crash; really sorry to hear about the drivers death.

The W124 sure left an impression on the bus.

Looks like the bus was on the Thrissur-Kunnamkulam route which is notorious for its accidents. It is extremely dangerous to drive on cos its one of the best roads in the district and a bus drivers' favourite for speeding and overtaking. I remember some time ago when a bus collided with an elephant on that road..the elephant was so badly injured they couldn't shift the poor thing and it died a slow death several days later. Believe me guys..this won't be the last you will be hearing about accidents on that stretch.

ahh,a pretty bad accident, but looking at the accident nothing could have saved the driver in such an accident, the right part of the car went completly under the bus.

The driver must have been crushed under the roof, very bad, very very bad.

Why cant they design these buses and trucks better,on most BEST and ST buses behind the rear body are 2 horizontal members of the chassis comming out,i dont know what will happen to someone if they hit the bus from behind at high speed.

ouch, thats a horrible accident. the merc sure must have been doing 3 digit speeds to end up halfway under the bus. was the w124 driver just crazy or blind?

omg couldn't believe the amount of blood on the airbag i think the driver had no chance btw the airbag i think didn't open completely

and as for the bus driver he must be at fault to he could have shown some sense and slow down

i think the new rule of 12th pass driver is clearly a need of the hour seeing this accident
