I don't think Yamuna Expressway is completed.

and it asked me to follow the Yamuna Expressway from Agra to Delhi .

Hi ,
Need information for a friend.
He has to travel from delhi to bareilly and back in his Micra.
Is Nh24 okay or something else should be suggested ?

For Delhi - Bareilly, NH24 is the main direct option. Other local routes can't be recommended. Delhi-Moradabad is good. BUT Moradabad-Bareilly often faces jams due to 2 railway crossings w/o any flyovers, particularly in evenings-nights. Yes, this Kanwar season is best avoided for road travel in western UP, sply Ghaziabad, Meerut, Muzzafarnagar, Moradabad zones.

For Lucknow - Delhi, as others have mentioned, via Kanpur, Agra is the best option.

BUT, if Bareilly is a must see in someones plans, then following NH24 is more sensible for outsiders then venturing inside roads via Budaun, Bulandsahar, Ghaziabad.

@ampere. Though roads have improved a lot on this stretch too, since days when you used to roam in this area, still, all 2 lanes with lots of local traffic, and night driving not advisable for outsiders from safety point of view. My relatives frequently travel in those parts.
However, @ampere. Your knowledge of Agra is still fresh even after so many years!! Great

Kanwar - related blockades/ crowed not a problem on Kanpur -Agra route. Its mainly on NH24 and Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut-Haridwar-deheradun routes.

Guys,i'm enroute.Just starting from lucknow.Journey from home to Lucknow has been pathetic with very bad roads.Will update all after finishing my journey.

@LDL, its been so long and we have not seen the black safari do any more long drives?

Hope to catch up more in future.

Yes, there has been a 'travelogue dry' period. Though we did 2 long trips in Safari in 2011, so far: 1. Lucknow-Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Kakinada, Rajahmundary and back (March 2011), and 2. Lucknow-Chamba (HP), Amritsar, Nangal and back (May 2011). BUT, they were official trips done with office colleagues, No family there.

Couldn't do any during monsoons. Plans are afoot for a long one with family during winters, and Goa is on top of the list for that. Lets see how it turns out!

Hi all, any update on the latest condition of both these routes? I am currently in Lucknow and yesterday it took an eternity to cross Kanpur. Even the condition of road wasn't good. I dread of think of driving back through Kanpur.

Hi,

I need to travel from Ghaziabad to Lucknow in next few days for attending a ceremony. There are multiple routes mentioned on internet sites and I am quite confused. Please suggest me the best route for the journey (distance, road condition, traffic etc).

Going via taj expressway and then onwards to Lucknow via Kanpur would be the best way. We do this route often and though this is longer, you make up for it with good roads.

As of early 2013, I was happy with the NH2 route which is convenient for Gurgaon folks. It is excellent highway ask through except the entry into Kanpur which sgiitk sir regularly updates about.

Please note that I used to cross Kanpur at 7am or 10pm so traffic wasn't an issue for me.
