You should be able to reach Parli before 9 pm by any means.
+1 to HVK. Its a decent place to stay. I got to know this from folks who stayed there this week.

Re: 12 Jyotirlingas - Route Info

Hi,

Planning to do a trip to shirdi, shani signapur and trimbakeshwar from mumbai this weekend with a halt at shirdi (already booked hotel)

while reading through the forum i realised that nashik would be a better halt. but with bookings already made whats the best travel route.

i was planning mumbai - shirdi (via igatpuri, ghoti) - shani signapur - shirdi. (halt)

shirdi - nashik - trimakeshwar - mumbai.

is this good or should i make alterations. what is the expected travel time?

posting here as it seems the most active thread on routes to trimbakeshwar.

Re: 12 Jyotirlingas - Route Info

Hi There,

If you are planning a Day Journey advise you to take Mumai-Nasik-Sangamner or Mumbai-Nasik-Chandwad-Kopargaon-Shirdi Route as it has the maximum spread of 4-Laned NH roads with plently of places to stop in between.

You can always return via the other route as the 10-15 Kms route is bad out of shirdi in both the directions.

hope it helps.

Ideally,
Bombay-Nashik-Triambakeshwar-Sinnar-Shirdi, with overnight stay at Shirdi.
If particular about visiting Shani Singnapur on Saturday, go past Shirdi, finish darshan of Shani Bhagwan & return to Shirdi.

No, AFAIK, Nashik-Triambakeshwar road is quite fine. Other roads are also in good condition. Be prepared for heavy traffic.

@ Irish
  • Somnath - Bhavnagar - Anand - Vadodra - Valsad – Mumbai – 884 kms – 14 hrs
  • Mumbai - Lonavala - Pimpri - Khed – Bhimashankar – 218 kms – 3.5 hrs

My Suggestion is however

Somnath - Vadodra - Vyara (nr Bardoli) - Sakri - Dhule - Nashik - Trimbak

Trimbak - Nasik - Sangamner - Shirdi - Shani Singnapur - Aurangabad - Ghrishneshwar

Why So ? Cuz its direct road from Bardoli to Dhule on Surat Dhule Highway which is being 4 laned as we speak. Apart from 3 railway crossing there will not be a major issue. It has good road condition apart from good traffic.

From Dhule you get the 4-laned NH road till Nashik ensuring fast speed and less timing.

Also from Shani Singnapur take the Pune Aurangabad Highway directly.

When in A`bad dont miss to visit the famous Daultabad Fort . Its just opposite to Grishneshwar and you can see it from far. It is a must see and i suggest you climb early in the morning to avoid heat. Carry Water bottle with you.

Also Please note
- In Shirdi the darshan closes by 10.30 pm as the last aarti starts

- The Road from Amravati to Khandwa - Omkareshwar is through a ghat of 60 Kms.

The Ghat is best covered in the day as in the night since the road passes through a
wild life Santuary , convoy system is used . Also it has no good places to Eat or snack. I have travelled 5 times till Khandwa (Where ghat ends) from Paratwada (Where ghat starts) in the night and have never crossed more than 12 vehicles through Entire Route in the night of course. Though it is a Drivers Delight. I have always at the end of ghat had the feeling to just turn around and do it again

Make that 7! When from Omkareshwhar, you hit Nanded on the way to Hyderabad, divert for a 100km you and hit Parli Vaijnath.

Thats one more added to the list.

Sorry not aware of these aspects. But since many I know talked about it as a Jyotirlinga, and since it fell in the way I suggested.

EDIT:

After you mentioned I looked at wikipedia and was surprised! They have a 9a, 9b and 9c in their list of 12! And similarly 10a, 10b and 10c!

Nageswar at Dwarka is indeed a Jyotirlinga temple.

For grishneswar one has to take a deviation between bhimashankar-trimbak vis Sangamner-shirdi-grishneswar-yeola-nashik-trimbak
