Amazing Ranjit, but this is the exact same thing I do and not just on the highway, even on my drive to office. And I thought I was the only one to do that. In fact, it has become so ingrained into me, that as I started reading your post, I was not even thinking of this habit of mine as a quirk I could add to your thread.

Same here Pugram. I had a tiny something hanging in my car. It was there for a day, and drove me nuts enough to rip it off and throw it away.

I did something of that sort to my bicycle. It does not have a bell(!). It does not have a side stand. So I have to find walls or trees if I stop somewhere. For some time it did not even have mud guards, but they had to come back on since the tires and wet roads really wreaked havoc on my clothes. But for a bicycle this is a lot of reduction.

How do you explain that? Or do you use the outside of the mirror to feel the wall?
Amazing man! I would never even try to get that close. BTW, have you ever made contact?
Or maybe you have a fork lift to physically pick the car up and place it there?

quirks

I've this fetish of parking the car in reverse so that when I move out, I drive straight in front. Howsoever hard pressed for time I might be I always like to park in the space by reversing unlike most others who go nose in first.

Even my wife has acquired this habit and maneovoures her Safari in the reverse.

Secondly, everything in my car has to be working - anytime and everytime, howsoever small they are in function. Even if one thing as inconsequential as blower direction changer is concerned, it should work. If not, I get very restless and regardless of other engagements, make it a point to go and get it rectified immediately.

I am at times ridiculed for this coz they find me and my car in the garage most of the times even for a trivia..

i hate to park in reverse. i hate it even more when a parking attendant springs from nowhere, after i have parked my car & taken the keys out, & tells me to park it in reverse. i usually give him a mouthful.

my quirks change time to time.
my current quirks are:
1. maintain two cars length distance between my car and the car infront. (why? my car's brakes may not be as good as his car's)

2. to join the stream of cars on double lane roads, from parking to the right lane, i will use the right indicator but dont shift to right lane till i hit 40kmph and shift to right lane. (why? dont want to give any chance to other deivers on the road to acuse me of not giving time to react)

3. our car driver gets bugged up, i check every nool and corner of the car whether there are any scratches or dirt which happened due to negligence on the driver part. Also this bugs my parents when i keep questioning our driver on slight deviation in vibrations or sounds in the car.

4. Never overtake from left. Oh!, this one irritates the co-passengers and traffic infront.(why? i keep honking the horn, till they give place to overtake)

Well
1. I need a spotless windscreen, eventhough I have a guy who washes my car everyday, before stsrting for the day I personally clean the windshield. Ditto if it gets dusty dirty during the day. So much that on long jorrneys I spl in night I end up cleaning the windscreen 4-5 times.

2. Every time i stop for some time, parking/tea break during long trips, I check the tires for pressure, by kicking them once.

3. Every tiniest bulb in my car has to be working whatever it maybe. If one goes kaput, I change it immediately when I notice.

4. I hate being behind any bus, or any truck, and I always overtake them come waht may. ( I know this is exactly not safe but somehow I can not control me when i see a buss or a truck in front of me.)

Check the petrol knob in my bike to make sure it's in ON position.

Re: Whats YOUR quirk?

1) strictly 24.5degrees on AC and fan speed set to 1.
whenever i start driving after parking in a hot place ,i am constantly adjusting the AC to get to my comfort level. i know it takes my attention but thanks to physical buttons on my AC control.
Even if my mom in rear seat complains of no cooling in the rear i increase the fan speed only for a while again set it back to 1, drives her nuts to keep asking repeatedly.

2) Sunshade always open during evening/monsoon drive. i am hating the reduced light inside the car as soon as the sun sets. or it's more of getting used to have more light due to panaromic sunroof.

3) I should always have one sunglasses, 1 duster, 1 cloth for body cleaning, 1 cloth for glass cleaning inside the car

4) i like to overtake the cars i like, definitely not those which my car cant reach, but if reachable, i sneakily try to chase and overtake atleast once provided i am in good mode, day light and multiple lanes ofcourse.

5) all my spider sense gets triggered as soon as my wife or parents open up something to eat that can make my seats or dashboard dirty. every biscuit leaves out residue on seats, oily foods(chips- smudges on infotainment, windshield, windows everywhere, i just hate it). dont even get me started on juices handed over in open glasses & strict no no for kids to sit in front who have oil all over their head.

6) i like to turn off AC and open windows only when the road is london street(no dust) clean and there aren't much vehicles on road farting their ass off, especially the diesel ones

7) if i finding any vehicle ahead of me but not too far & if he happens to get stuck in the middle lane behind a slow truck or at a toll gate ,trying hard to get into my lane, i will openly slow down and let him in, as we will be driving along and i might be in same place going forward, just a gesture for not being too bossy as we have a long way to go may be together?

8) I hate to see switches which looks abused/overused, i talking about printed text getting peeled off. So i put a transparent plastic film on most used physical buttons on my car. i have personally cut the film and applied on push buttons, AC knobs etc.
