I am planning to make a Road Trip frm Hyd-Delhi.
Car - Swift Petrol
Driver - Just Me
Route - Hyd:Nagpur:Bhopalelhi
Wanted to know on the current road conditions, and was wondering if this can be completed in 2.5 Days time, avoiding night-driving as much as possible.

Please respond with your views.

Any updates on the Delhi - Gwalior - Shivpuri - Bhopal - Betul - Nagpur section?

Could anybody enlighten me on the present condition of Hyderabad-NH7-Nagpur-NH69-Betul-Itarsi-Hoshangabad-Obaidullagunj-Bhopal-NH12-Biaora-NH3-Vijaipur-Guna-Shivpuri-Gwalior-Morena-Dholpur-Agra? I plan to drive on this route in August/September this year provided the roads are good.

Currently, one can rate roads as OK beyond Nagpur, but in Aug/Sep typically roads will be bad after the rains start.

Hyderabad-Nagpur is almost four laned.
Nagpur-Betul dual carriage way and in good condition in January when I went.
Betul-Itarsi drivable.
Itarsi to Bhopal there are some bad stretches. Advisable to do this stretch in the day.
Bhopal-Gwalior surface of road average some stretches are good.Heavy lorry traffic.Guna has a good bypass.
Gwalior-Agra four laning in progress.Gwalior bypass is bad.

Avoid night driving even from Hyderabad to Nagpur as there are ongoing work in some stretches and they are blind spots and can land you in trouble.

I drove through the bad stretches b/w Nagpur and Hyderabad a few days back at night. If you follow another vehicle or have powerful headlights and are comfortable with night driving, you should be alright - but do not drive too close to it, since often it will take emergency maneuvers due to last minute sighting of diversions. There are also quite a few big craters on a few stretches - you need to avoid them. You might not see them if there are incoming highbeams from the other side.

Everything considered, better to stick to daytime driving. You will also save significant time driving during the day since better visibility will mean better speed.

My cousin and I are planning a trip from Hyderabad to Delhi around the end of this month!

Vehicle is Ford Fiesta.

Requesting fellow Bhpians on the following:

- Which route via mumbai or nagpur?
- Current road condition of our N-S corridor and GQ
- Restaurants/ stop overs for night!
- Any other tips/ information

Now, most people have said this time and again that the mumbai route is preferable. But, I know that Solapur to Pune is just horrible due to four-laning works and rain.

We are willing to be a bit more adventurous and choose a longish sort of route say Hyd-Nag-jblpur-kanpur via GQ to delhi if the road is good!

Basically, we are looking for a route that offers good road, even if it is longer!

Route via Mumbai will set you back by a day. I would prefer Hyderabad - Nagpur - Itarsi - Gwalior - Agra - Delhi.

Itarsi is 780km from Hyderabad. It can be your stop for the night. Hotel Meghdoot bang opposite the railway station is a decent stay option. The food is acceptable too.

Regarding your query of going via Allahabad - Kanpur, I would advise against it. For only one reason. UP cops are going to harass you. They are the sorriest bunch of cops in the country. They need an excuse to pull you over and demand money. Avoid them unless you are a masochist.

This would be my route but I would stay at MPTDC Bhimbetka which is 60 Kms fromItarsi towards Bhopal.

Chances that Route 2 will be repaired by Jan.
Route 1 has still many sections of road widening still incomplete

I am planning to stay overnight at Nagpur, a few more riders joining us there. If I take route 2, Are there any places to stay between Nagpur and Gwalior. I plan to cover 500-600 Km a day.

You could ideally stay in Hotel Varun at Guna, or if you push further, there are hotels at Shivpuri too.
