Hyderabad-Delhi (Road Trip)

A friend of mine has decided to drive down this weekend from Hyderabad to Delhi in his Santro over 2 days or even 3 days since he wants it to be a pleasureable drive so time is no factor. He will be travelling with another friend and his wife and daughter.

Can somebody please advice the route ( shortest) to be taken to reach Delhi and all and any advice is welcome.

Welcome to NHAI

quite a straight forward route:

Take NH7 to Nagpur : 515 (can be your first night stop)
Nagpur-NH7 + NH26-Jhansi: 593 (can be your second night stop)
Jhansi-NH75+NH3- Agra- Delhi : 424
Total: 1532kms

This route is also the North-South Golden Quad route under construction

Just check with bhopal fellows abuot the NH7 section to lakhnadon/seoni or the route that goes to jabalpur and then to jhansi. You can never trust MP roads.

To add to that, here is some more info:

NH7 to Nagpur is quite fast, you might end up reaching Nagpur quite early in the day. But unfortunately, the next decent halt is Sagar, which is too far away.

Turn off point on NH7 is Laknadon (into NH26).

Joining point on NH3 (from NH75) is Gwalior.

Thanks Bunny, what would be the halting options, say if would like to do it in 2 days? Is the road distance equivalent to train distance?

If you want to do it 2 days, if you leave Hyderabad very early (4 am or thereabouts), you can attempt to reach Narasingpur/ Sagar - road after you leave NH7 at laknadon is not fast. If you stay on Day 1 at Sagar, you can make it to Delhion Day 2. But this will mean some tough driving with minimal halts.

Here is a town-by-town breakup of distances:

Hyderbad-Adilabad 320
-Nagpur 190
-Seoni 135
- Laknadon 60
- Narsingpur 75
- Sagar 140
- Lalitpur 110
- Jhansi 95
- Gwalior 120
- Agra 115
- Delhi 200

All the towns mentioned aboev are of decent size and have hotels and other facilities. Roads will be moderate between Laknadon and Lalitpur.

Very recently my cousin's friend had yet another truck looted in MP area.
The drivers mistake? He drove at night despite warnings. And this is not the first incident with the truckers. MY Cousins transport company also had a similar experience last year.
So they never traverse this stretch at night.
Plan the trip such that MP is traversed during daytime only.

Nagpur to Hyd is safe with Roads getting excellent once you enter AP.(this was 3 years ago)

mobike008, If he wants to halt in Sagar, he has to be out of Nagpur by noon sharply...if delayed, he should not target Sagar... it will take much more time than anticipate between Lakhandon - Sagar...Also, those stretches are better not to do in darkness....You should target Sagar before 6PM...
Above all u should be out of Nagpur by 12PM max...

For this he have really plan his drive...driving then stopping for pics and then chai and then pee will not help....

Here is our friend Biswajit's travelogue from Bangalore to Uttaranchal (last month), when he returned from Delhi to Bangalore via the route that you propose to take. He has reported that the roads are in OK condition, although traffic and facilities are very por.

A funny logic adopted by a gent to great speed and success, was to cross MP only in evening. That way, one travels in the night convoy between police jeeps. Safety of the radically different kind

Hyderabad to delhi route

Hello everybody,

I am planning a trip to Delhi from Hyderabad sometime during the end of this month.
I request you all to help me out with the route, road conditions and any other info that might be of help.

Would be making the trip on my SX4 with my wife and plan to do it in 2 days if possible else a third day is also ok.

Any pointers on where to halt overnight are also welcome.

Thanks in advance

direct route from hyderabad is via nagpur, laknadon, sagar, jhansi, gwalior and agra, but nh27 beween laknadon and jhansi is terrible. better route is nh7 ill nagpur, then via betul to bhopal and join nh3 at biaora and go via guna, dhivpuri and gwalior to agra.

Hyd to Delhi

The route to Nagpur is OK however due to 4-lane work on stretches you may need to slow down. We traveled this route in January this year , the stretch on NH7 around Jabalpur , katni etc the roads are terrible and with no surface in long stretches. You will need to plan extra time on this stretch of NH7 .

From Hyderabad to Delhi

I may be a little late for this thread but I thought I will still go ahead and contribute to this thread just in case somebody needs this info in future.

I have done Hyderabad-Delhi-Hyderabad more than 15 times in last 3 years. I know this route pretty well.

The road to take is Hyderabad-Nagpur-Bhopal-Shivpuri-Agra-Delhi. Total of around 1600Km.

You may take Hyderabad-Nagpur-Bhopal-Kota-Jaipur-Delhi. Total of around 1650Km.

The two routes above are same till Byora (I hope the spelling is right). From Byora one road goes to Shivpuri and the other takes a left turn towards Rajgarh-Jhalawad-Kota.

Though the shortest route is Hyderabad-Nagpur-Sagar-Jhansi-Gwalior-Delhi. I will not advise this route to anybody for the following reasons:
Bad road
No help
Totally deserted, you might not even fine trucks
100% NO for night driving

I hope this helps. You may get in touch with me at vikrocks@gmail.com if you need further info.

Thanks
