Bangalore to Goa and Back.

Citradurga to hubli 4 laning has not progressed in last 1 year. I have frequently travelled on this route and it is in bad shape. tumkur - shimoga honnavar was OK in May when I last drove on it. Honnavar to Goa is BAD. The best, if you can call it that, is the tumkur - haveri - mirjan - karwar route.

OK Guys,

Just got back and came to the conclusion that the only route worth taking to Goa is AIR.

Goa to Honnavar is HORRID, Honavar to Jog is not bad, not great though. Sagar onwards till beyond Shimoga is HORRID-almost halfway from Shimoga to Tumkur.

Took me 15 hours to get from Benaulim to Bangalore - same took me 9.5 hours last year.

Abhi (akroy) suggested several times to take Ankola-Sirsi-Haveri route. Granted, you would have to deal with Haveri-Chitradurga stretch but overall this route would probably have been better.

Please dont try Kollur to Shimoga via Nagodi,a couple of bridges have collapsed and there is some temporary structure in place to allow an Indica size vehicle to barely pass through.Scary though.

I agree-should have tried that but the Sirsi-Haveri road did not inspire confidence and I was hoping for better than the Haveri-Chitradurga stretch. As it is the road I took was hell to drive on.

just to mention, I took different routes for my forward and return trip and could cover few more places.

i did go to Kollur via Hosanagra - nagara a month back and thier was bo issue only that the road condition is lil ruff

1. How was the road condition in Londa ponda?
2. Why did you take this longer route (in BOLD)> why nor via Honnavar - Jog _ shimoga? good rd and cuts down on distance too
