NH4 till Chitradurga, NH13 from thereon via Hospet. Normally a good road. Doable the same day. Have done the full distance, but have gone on some of the stretches.

I Did it on 30th Sep.The Road upto ChitraDurg is Okay but NH13 to Hospet is just doable. Becomes actually bad as you approach Hospet. Lots of trucks thruout.

Watch out for the small ghat section near Hospet. Lot of mining lorries on that road and breakdowns too. Also the small stretch of road from the ghat section till the TB dam is bad. There's a railway crossing and chances of traffic jams are there especially in the nite time. After TB dam the road is good, but you do have plenty of speed breakers which are not very visible.

Nope. I would suggest not. As I said you would be in Hospet sometime like 9 - 10 pm. Too many trucks at that time and there are chances of traffic jam near the TB Dam. We were in Hospet for 4 days and every day we had these jams near the Dam area and the small ghat section near Hospet.

Due to heavy traffic the road is also typically bad in that sector.

Also unmarked speed breakers/rumbler strips.

would advice leaving early in the morning.

What can be the actual time taken to reach Bangalore to Bijapur? All in NH and what could be the speed that can be cruised on in this road?

Bangalore to Bijapur

Drove from Bijapur to Bangalore last Saturday.
Left Bijapur at 2:00pm and reached Hospet at 4:30pm. Covered 215 kms in 2.5 hours. Road is fantastic. Few potholes. Truck traffic.

From Hospet, the next 100 kms is very bad. Mines trucks and rain have played havoc with the road.
Distance from Hospet to Chitradurga is 165 kms.
We took 2.5 hours for 100 kms. After this the road is good.
Chitradurga to Bangalore is 200kms and can be done in 3 hours via Tumkur.

I've heard that there's an alternate route from KB Cross (after Tumkur on the way to Tiptur) goes all the way to Bidar.

Another route is to go to Bellary and from there to Bijapur.

Check out the Eicher road map book and you should be able to get these routes clarified.

Happy Motoring.

Regards
Ravi.

Thanks for info Ravi.

Actually, I need to go to Gulbarga. Just checking out various possibilities on routes....

Presently I have 3 routes with me:

1) Bangalore-Tumkur-Sira-Hiriyur-C'durga-Jagalur-Kudligi-Hospet-G'wati-Sindhnur-Lingsur-Hattigudur-Jewargi-Gulbarga - Total distance 623 kms

2) Bangalore-Tumkur-Sira-Hiriyur-Challakere-Hangal-Bellary-Sindhnur-Lingsur-Hattigudur-Jewargi-Gulbarga-Total 579 kms.

3) Bangalore-Tumkur-Sira-Hiriyur-C'durga-Jagalur-Kudligi-Kushtigi-Hunugund-Muddebihal-Bijapur-Sindigi-Jewargi-Gulbarga - Total 654 kms.

Which do you think will be the best route cponsidering the internal routes (state highways).....

Could you reply back pls.

BLR - BJPR - which vehicle?

Hey ravi - Which vehicle were you in .I will be in a ZEN (with 4 people). So the driving times will be drastically diffrent.

Also, did you experience the traffic jam near Hospet, the one that CSSEnthil is talking about?

Thanks for the info

I've cut and paste your options above.

I have heard that the second option is the best.

I would rule out option 1.

I was in a Swift diesel while coming back from Bijapur.

I've driven a Zen long distance. Zen with four people on a highway. Don't get into three digit speeds.

Regards
Ravi.
