That is perfect. While going you can do faster. as there wont be any traffic in the morning. Plus if you carry your food, you save on "A2B Down Time"

^^^ From Salem to Coimbatore roads are still a breeze except for one small stretch or so you may have to enter into Shankari town. Trust me roads are breeze & watch out for the direction at Salem junction towards Coimbatore. There're 5 routes at a circle & its easy to get lost.

Now you don't have to enter Shankari town. There is a bye pass.

Oh!!! is it completed? We were driving by that side during mid May & we were routed through Shankari when coming back; while going, we're not sure.

Done this route few weeks back. Roads are excellent till Avinashi..I could clock an average of 90 kmph easily in that stretch (with short breaks, I have started 5ish from Bangalore).. From Avinashi till CBE is like hell with very heavy traffic and only 2 lanes.

Avinashi to CBE vianh47 is a big mess-lorries/buses/rickshaws and nobody would let you pass, takes easily around 2hrs+ to cover the distance. If Ooty road or adjoining areas is your destination then you could go via Annur
