I did get a copy of the owners manual from the net but it is neither complete nor very clear. I am trying to source one but in case I failed to do so - Sutriptada you are there for me ...

Guys, just finished installing Garmin XT Mobile in my phone. Loaded both Middle East and Indian map. The Middle East one is working great. Will test the Indian one once I reach Delhi. Now trying to create a customised map from Google Map with point of interest and then will transfer it to the mobile.

10 more days to go - guys I am so restless.....

Way to go, MJP. Except, looking at your plans and with all T-BHP members pitching in, you CAN'T go missing on the NH2! GPS will be peace of mind, though.

Dada I know GPS guidance is not much required for NH2 ride. I will use it mainly for data logging which will be of much use while analyzing the trip. It will help me to check the maximum speed, average speed, stopping points, geo-tagging the images etc. I am creating POI, so it will help me find shortest way to my hotels in the city like Agra, Kanpur and Varanasi. Dada, you all are experienced travellers, so your feedback and guidance is the most valuable thing. Just keeping the device as backup....

Agreed. Will be interesting to compare times with other mobikes and cars.

Can you post when once on the move? Would be great following your progress.

A quick update for all concerned: MJP and I met up last night. He's all ready and raring to go, expected to leave this morning for Agra. Didn't see his bike (I was looking forward to having a good dekko at it) - he'd come over by car. He unfortunately left his gloves back home, and picked up a not-so-good pair at KB yesterday.

He would be accompanied by his friend P in a car (?M-800) till Agra.

Expecting to hear from him once he reaches Agra. ETA 1 PM.

UPDATE -

Milinda reached Agra about 5:30 last evening and unfortunately could not see the Taj as it was dark. He gave me a call from the parking lot and I met him as I stay 10 minutes away.

He wanted to see the Taj in the morning so I got him a hotel near the Taj where he parked his Bike ( beautiful by the way ! ) and his friends car.

We said Bye and hoped to see again this morning.

I got a call from him this morning at 9 saying he saw the Taj and was leaving for Kanpur and then hopefully make it to Allahabad. He should make it by 3 to kanpur and then to Allahabad before dark around 5:30.

All the best mjp !

Sorry could not click any photos

PS - Thanks for the dates

MJP reached Allahabad today, and is staying overnight there. He plans to stop over at Benaras for tomorrow night.

MJP reached Benaras from Allahabad around 1:15PM today, and has checked into the Raahi UP Tourism bungalow opposite the railway station. He did not manage to meet up T-BHP members at Allahabad or Benaras (on-phone support and road directions to enter Benaras was what he got from Delhi! ), although he has had an incident-free and safe trip till now. He's expected to leave Benaras tomorrow morning for CCU.

Wishing him all the best.

Got a call from MJP @ 11AM. He'd been having fun in Benaras apparently, attending the Ganga aarti in the evening, and the mangal aarti at 3AM. He left Benaras at 5AM, and was stopped for tea at 11AM about 100 KM before Dhanbad. Was supposed to stop for lunch and rest at the New Khalsa Dhaba at Govindpur.

Delhi - Kolkata : A ride on RD350-dsc05192k120.jpg

Expected to reach CCU by nightfall, but since his mobile seems to have a connectivity problem, his present status cannot be confirmed.
