Hi guyfrmblr,

When did you take this drive?

I am planning to visit KRS backwaters tomorrow.

Is it worth going there? Are there any restrictions on entry?

I visited this morning. It’s absolutely worth visiting as the KRS is at its full capacity as of today. Which part of KRS backwaters are you planning to visit? I visited near Kallahalli and there were absolutely no restrictions. I’m not sure about Mysore side where most folks visit.

Did a quick 400 km drive to Holenarasipura, K.R Nagara and surrounding areas which has some of the best roads in Southern Karnataka. I used to drive around these areas 6 years back and the roads were awesome those days. The quality of the roads has only improved now. Took the NH-75 to reach Channarayapatna and then took all the internal roads and joined back NH-75 at Bellur Cross.

So you are back from foreign lands to explore the roads of KA!

Roads around KR Nagar are fantastic to say the least. We had been 2-3 years. We did go around that region. Mallali/KR Nagar/Venugopal swamy temple.

The back waters regions were beautiful to say the least!

Me and two other friends went to Shivanasamudra Barachukkhi falls. Water flow was good if not great, as water release from KRS & Kabini were reduced in last few days due to less rains in catchment areas. But we enjoyed it though.

At the entrance of barachukki view point main gate, they were doing temperature check for everyone in the car. That's all.

The drive was good and of course road construction is going on in Kanakapura-Malavalli in several stretches with diversions.

Can you please help me with the route taken from Bangalore to Shivanasamudra Barachukkhi falls.

I am planning a visit coming Monday.

Thanks in advance.

Wife and Daughter were getting very bored at home with no outing in the last few months.

We went today evening to Gunjur lake near Makalidurga. 70kms one way from our home near BEML Gate to this place. Its possible to take the car near the lake. The opening comes just after the toll plaza after Makalidurga Railway station. Spent some peaceful time there. About 5-10 cars were there with people having enough space to maintain social distancing. There was one car (Omni) with locals boozing and dancing to loud music. But thankfully they left without bothering us and other families that were around.

Some pics.

Onward journey we took Nice Road-Kanakapura Road exit-Harohalli-Kanakapura-Malavalli-Shivanasamudra.

Return journey we took Shivanasamudra-Kanakapura-Harohalli (take right towards Anekal)-Attibelle-Sarjapur.

There is road construction happening between Harohalli to Anekal, so better use this route only in day time.

I made a visit as planned. Thanks for your reply.

Had no idea which part we went to. But it was terrific.

Went to Chunchunkatte first, but the actual entry to the temple and falls was closed because of the holiday weekend :Frustrati.

Spent sometime on the bridge before the entrance watching the river.

Reached Venugopalswami Temple at KRS backwaters and again the actual entry to the temple was blocked for cars.

Roamed around and found plenty of vantage points to enjoy the backwaters :).

Can you please point me to the entry of the lake? Is it before the toll gate or after?
Looking at the maps, I'm a bit confused.

It is just after crossing the toll, you will see some small eatery shops on your right. you have a bylane there, and enough parking space to park car safely. The shops have stairs going don, and you can make your way from there to the lake.

We are planning for a quick drive tomorrow to Antaragange Cave And Water. I have checked with a friend in Kolar and he said it's fine to visit with family. Please let me know if anyone visited recently.

When I went a couple of years ago, the place was monkey infested. There were hundreds of monkeys around trying to snatch water bottles, food packets etc. so keep this in mind and take enough precautions.

Thanks for sharing your drives here. It does help in planning short trips during this Covid time when we can't do much!

Wanted to share my experiences with the short drives within and outside Bangalore city. Have been going on these trips almost every weekend now whenever there were no lockdowns!

Started with city rides, places which I had avoided pre-covid due to traffic! MG Road, Brigade, Vidhana Soudha, Majestic, Koramangala, Electronic City, NICE Road(multiple trips), Outer ring road, Devanahalli Airport road etc.

Outside Bangalore started with ~100km(~3hrs) drives and now planning to extend it to ~200kms (<5hrs). Done the below trips

Up and down:
Next plans, thanks to posts here by fellow bhpians:
Keep posting your adventures and stay safe!

Even we went there today. Reached around 4:15pm and left at 6:00 pm. Loved the view from the hill top. Yes there are lot of monkeys but they don't bother at all if we're not carrying anything with us. And the monkeys don't go beyond the temple towards the hill top.

Few pictures from my end
