Since i have never owned an elanta (only driven one a few times) I cant comment on the mileage. But going by user reviews, 8-9 is pretty much par for the course. Yes, it would be 1-1.5 KPL less tan the fiesta or city, but in return, u get a much more substantial car.

IMHO, not a bad tradeoff!

Well, the 6.99 lac version is a pretty stripped down variant and all is has is space and the bhp; doesn't have any of the frills of the original 9 lac plus version....and from what I've read, the FTD factor is not so high in the Elantra....and the mileage (correct me guys if I'm wrong) is more in the 7 to 8 kmpl category, compared to over 10 for the Fiesta & City both.

from what i have test-driven, the elantra is not exactly the 'sporty' sedan as hyundai hypes it to be - more like another case of hyundai 'bhp' figures not living upto their name.

the fiesta is far more fun-to-drive, and much better at ride and handling as well.

and you can also add uncomfortable rear seats to the list of elantra's shortcomings.
