Never Ending Confusion

I almost made my mind for Fiesta Zxi Diesel; but now again thinking is it worth it.... Here is how much i drive:

1. 30 Kms daily
2. Once in 6 Months on a highway trip

Now, my shortlisted cars:

- Maruti Baleno - 5.75L Ex Showroom + Discounts
- Ford Fiesta Diesel Zxi - 8LOn Road
- Ford Fiesta Sxi Petrol - 7.6L On Road
- GM Aveo - 6.5L On Road
- Lancer CNG - 8 L on road

What i want in my car?

1. Power
2. Stylish looking with alloys and all
3. Good FE
4. Affordable Maintaince

Budget: Max 8L - On Road

Now, i look upto you guys again - which is the real car for me to go for?

Go for the Fiesta Sxi 1.6 Petrol. Your usage does not render a diesel car approporiate. If the Fiesta Sxi does not happen, settle for the Aveo. All other cars in your list are either too dated or are not a VFM proposition.

According to me you should go for the Maruti Baleno as it fits most of your priorities.

1. Power- good enough compared to the others in the same segment.

2. Stylish looking with alloys and all- Wouldn't call it stylish but you can modify it by puting nice alloys etc..etc..

3. Good FE- sure it does.

4. Affordable Maintaince- its a maruti. No brainer!

Buttt because ur budget is 8L I would also consider Fiesta for a new fresh look on the road. Lancer for CNG. My top pick would be baleno.

U should go in for the Maruti Baleno VXi - it fulfills most of your requirements.

Another car u can look at is the Fiat Adventue. For street presence, none of these cars come even within a mile of it!

You want power, and drive only 30kms a day. Why would you want a Fiesta diesel then? Its not powerful, and you really wont make use of the diesel economy.

The Fiesta 1.6 anyday. IMHO, it stomps the Baleno.

Absolutely right , Baleno rocks, the adventure at 5.95 is a steel, with 100 horses and presence like none other, except will have to change tyres as the oem are noisy

Fiesta is more practical, is newer model and will have a better resale value. Besides, it is fun to drive as well so it gets my vote.

Bro,
go for the Fiesta Petrol with ABS and get after market alloys.
It meets all your requirements and more.

I'd have a look at the Ford Fusion too. The top-end version should be a lakh cheaper than the Fiesta Sxi, and IMHO a more practical & FTD car. It shares parts with Fiesta, so maintenance costs should come down. Resale value would be a killer though.

And damn, that's not a Shortlist, it's a Looong list ! The only other cars left over in that segment are the NHC and Accent. You need to prioritise on your requirements a bit more.

Seems like Fiesta Sxi petrol is coming as the winner here... between the 2 Diesel Zxi and Petrol Sxi which is more VFM?

while you are looking at a petrol car, I would recommend the fiesta sxi/ aveo 1.6 to you.

Both are equally good but fiesta has a more sporty character to it from its older brother Ikon while Aveo is similar to corsa and more comfortable. I like Aveo's looks but the Fiesta's engine and qualitites are better. Both are as close as it can get.

If there is a CNG pump near your house then the lancer is superb too. CNG today is cheaper so you Better take advantage of it. I would Strictly suggest this car only if it comes with leather, titanium finish, Electric mirror fold and 14" alloys. The rear a/c vents are actually effective and the all-round visibility and handling is still one of the best in the segment.

The best bet is to test-drive all and see which you find the most convenient and comfortable and the most fun to drive.

Earlier this month, I was in your situation too. I chose Baleno VXi.
Have posted pictures at:
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/new-ca...aleno-vxi.html

My company has professionals whose job includes advising people buying new cars in this budget.
They advised me Baleno over NHC, Fiesta, Fusion or Aveo.
Important factors cited were:
  • very weak dealer support,
  • inordinately long workshop times,
  • poor availability of spares
  • leading to low popularity
Every morning at my company, the two-storey parking lots fill up and every evening they spew out approx. 1,100 cars. A handful of Mercedes lead the way for scores of new and almost new Octavias, Corollas, Balenos, Esteems, Santros and WagonRs.
