Should I wait for the Baleno relaunch?

Gents,

In regard to the launch of the new Maruti Baleno which is somewhere in mid january 2007( unoffical date).....
I had closed in on the Baleno Lxi, (after driving the Aveo 1.4 and the Fiesta) but then have pushed myself to wait for the relaunch...

Just trying to sought out opinions will it be worth the wait and the added expenditure of 1 Lac plus as the car will be more expensive than the current model and also the 55K discount will also not be there..

Any views or opinions on the decision I made.

Regards

Speedme.

The LXi would be costing you around 5.7/5.8 ?
Information regarding the new Baleno is still pretty hazy. But it will surely not be at the price point of the current model.

Now if you are willing to consider a budget of around 7 (at least) next year, it should open up more options for you. Keep an open mind without being partial to an unknown entity - the new Baleno.

Well thanks for the inputs guyz
But if the engine is the same (thats the word thats doing the rounds)
The interiors can do with a much needed face lift
The ground clearance can be a good thing
But as per opinion is it worth the time and the dough if I can streach my budget

If you get very good discounts go with present Baleno its good car and value buy If you don't give importance to resale value. Wait for new baleno If you liked its new looks and since present Baleno is too old design I suggest it would worth a wait for new baleno,

you may try verna also its great car too

Ravi.

I am not sure if it would definitely launch this year. Otherwise people would have definitely spotted the disguised ones by now. Has anybody spotted any till now? Also please be sure of the looks. As per me (personal opinion) the new NMB is not a winner, i like the current one better. So if you wait for the HMB and then decide that it is not worth it, then the CMB would not be available any more

DEFINITELY YES!

IMHO, the Baleno's greatest strength is its engine which is being continued in the new version. The current baleno has very plasticky interiors and its just built to its price.

Like 'hondadude' posted, the november issue mentions that the sx-4 sedan will be launched in november. But, autocar india goes wrong on the launch dates ,half the time.

which literally means in a few days' time. if that is true, nobody needs to wait. it is as good as being there already. but saying that, is being far away from the truth. So for now, lets safely assume that the new baleno will be launched only in 2007.

@speedme.....the above gives you anywhere between 2-14 months. are you willing to wait that long ? and when it does come, it will be proced around 8 lakhs, which is more than 2L of the current price. the best bet is to get it now when it is at the lowest price. it is VFM. you will not be wasting your money. you will be investing it wisely. just ask any baleno owner here. cheers

IMO if you can get a really great bargain on the current Baleno, and are okay with its slighly drab interiors, then go for it... Otherwise without any really good discounts you may loose out on its resale value, once the new Baleno is launched... So better wait a little, confirmed news will soon start coming in... Surely then you can decide... Even the dealers will also give you tempting deals to get rid of their current stock...

Well... I think should wait till the year end in case they launch it or the cloud of smoke around it clears, else in Jan will be a proud owner for the OMB.
The only sore point is the interiors else its a darn fine machine.

Gents, if anything you find that can be help enough pls do let me know..

A pleasurable experience being a part of this community...

ACI Says that the new Baleno will have the fabulous 1.9 JTD engine. That engine in the Baleno is really worth waiting for.
Its quite a shame though that none of the future Fiat products are being envisaged with the engine. Correct me if I am wrong the block of the 1.9 JTD is shared with the Palio D's. So whats Fiat doing. Looks like Maruti/Suzuki is helping Fiat more than Tata here.

Same dilemma here. My brother has asked me to help him buy a car soon. Likes the Baleno, but buy or wait? If wait, how long? And how much price increase? Rs 1 lac would be a bit too high a hike for my likes.

If the new Baleno comes, they will be still selling the old Baleno until the stock runs out, and with a big discounts since Indians don't want to buy phased out models.

Therefore, waiting is a good idea if it is only a month.
