New Car - Accent GLE..Seniors/Experts Please Advise

Hello Everybody,
I am planning to but my first ever car.
I am interested in a big car but my budget is
limited to 5 Lakhs (could shell a few thousand more)
Now for the trouble. Hyundai Accent, an old model,
and the prices have dipped from 583000 to 536000(Pune)
from Diwali 2006 uptill now. I can easily get it upto 510000
now. Also GLE is the only variant in production (or MTO).
I think why should i go for a small car when at a more or less
price i can own a big one?
I love the looks and the elegance it provides. I know there
are troubles after 50000 Kms in every Accent. I will make that
much distance in about 10 years from today(weekend driver).
I'm not interested in Esteem or Baleno. Icon is out of production.
Also, i'm looking for expert comments and opinions from experienced
Accent users, word of mouth.
If you can suggest me a better deal, then please Advise.

Warm Regards,

Pervez Patel.

Who said there are troubles in an Accent? I have owned a CRDi for three years and driven more than 81000kms....no problems whatsoever. Apart from routine work, my car has never given any trouble.

At Rs.510000, its a good deal...no reason not to buy it.

Am neither a senior, nor an expert...

Accent is a very good car... one of my friends own the CRDi, and its very very good... But, another friend who has the Petrol 1.5 is not so satisfied with it... But he hasnt mentioned any problems as of yet... Just that the engine is nothing to write home about...

But still, if you drive that less... That accent GLE, at that price is a good buy...

Ford Ikon is not out of production... Only the 1.6 is... The 1.3 flair is still in production... Check it out too before taking a decision...

accent is nice & smooth ride...we have GVS in our family which is over 4 yrs old and clocked 80K kms...no problem at all.

Hyundai takes good care of their customers & i suggest that you go for it

510K really is a sweet price to buy it

keep us posted

cheers

Disel accent Is good But petrol accent is also very good at the price you get it for and with the budget you have its looks like a good option but it almost a out going design with old interiors but at this price this is the best option you have so go for it

Both Accent GLE and Ikon Flair are good options for you. If you can get the GLE at 5.1lakhs that would be a great deal IMO. The Flair would be under 5lakhs - has a free insurance offer going on currently. The Accent would be bigger and spacious than the Ikon and lower on maintenance and spares costs. Both would return FE of in-and-around 10kmpl in city conditions.

What troubles after 50k? I sold mine after it had done 50k and still speak to the new owner - he's taken it to 75 without any further issues.

@prince a brand new accent for 5.10 is an absolute steal dont think anybody can suggest a better deal here, and I think you should go ahead with it.

Is ABS available as an option on the GLE, now that other models of the accent are stopped.

That sounds like a good deal at 510k. Also IIRC the GLE comes with 155 tyres, if so then please upgrade them to atleast 175's for your safety.

Although its 5.1L OTR, you are still paying FIVE LAKHS, arent you?
Did you look at Petra? Its one hugely underrated car. Check with the owners on the forum for first hand info..

From what I remember, my friend's Accent has wider tyres than my Baleno's puny 165. I think they are 175.

They used to come with 175, but with the price cuts and the GLE tag I wouldnt be too sure.

Now all the variants of Accent comes with 175, it came with 155 when they introduced GVS variant way back in 2002.

But they reverted to the earlier profile of 175 soon...our accent was with 175 profile bought in 2002

Prince -that you're inclined toward this car should seal the decision in the 1st place. My only regret is you'l lbe buying the older gen of the Accent when the new one(Verna) is available. You should probably look at the Ikon as well - which has more character than the Accent
