I can vouch for the noise levels drastically coming down as the kilometres pile on. My Safari was quite noisy when I took delivery 5 months ago. Today at 13150 km, there is some noise on a cold start but once warmed, the engine is quite quiet.

Delivery - Photos

Hi all,

Took delivery of Logan DLE today. Overall the delivery experience was good. The rear door showed minor scratch (2 scratches) which was promptly pointed and promised to be readied sometime later.

Here come the pics, sorry did not know how to link from flickr. The "<ahref... " thing did not work. something called trackback. so just posted the links here. Hope you do not find this cumbersome.

The car seems to be growing on me.

I hated the boxy looks of the logan. Now, i feel its looks good enough.

Not too good-looking, and defenitly not bad-looking. May be, plain looking could be the word.

Nice colour, pugram! Congrats.

Pugram,

Congrats on your new car. I'am closely following this thread. I may opt for Logan DLE/DLX as the running cost for this is much more less (approx Rs.3.87/km) than sx4 (approx Rs.6.36/km). Do give the below details in your next post. It will certainly help me.

1) FE (on city and on highways).
2) Howz the performance?
3) A.S.S.
4) Any Freebies they had given to you. If I make the decision to buy a logan, i will definately negotiate for the accessories/discounts you have got.
5) At what rpm the turbo will open?

I have test driven LS Dicor (LX wasnot available) and have observed the some problems. The engine noise is more or less OK (We can't expect better from Tata). The gears were not shifting properly, pulling sucks in 2nd and 3rd, speedo not working (they have pulled out the cable), interiors (resin parts).....less said better. But the cost given to me is very competitive (for LX). For 7L, they will be givng all the accesories (incl remote locking+teflon coating+wruth coating) + alloys + BS tyres (5 sets)....But I feel we can bargain for more....But I personally do not like the looks of Indigo.....

Overall I feel you have made a good decision.........

CrAzY dRiVeR, E_L - Thanks for the pics, I will try to upload in imageshack and post a few more for the benefit of all. This is not a bad looking car at all. It is only the interiors (door pads) that suck IMHO.

amtak - Thanks pal

snaronikar - There are no freebies being given for either the scorpio or the Logan, as far as i know. Both are being "gobbled" by the time they land at the showroom. There was no demo car at the showroom for the scorpio, as what ever landed had been sold. So though not to the level of the Scorpio, the Logan is also doing well, particularly the diesel. Maybe one can bargain for the Petrol model.

Its too early to reel out the FE figures. But the Overdrive test gives the following figures for the diesel

City - 14kmpl

Highways 27.3 kmpl (Speed averaging 80kmph)

Overall of 17.33 kmpl

The turbo is supposed to open at 2000rpm (Low inertia turbocharger) - But there is a strong pull (16kgm of Torque) right from1500 rpm.

I have driven about 45 kms in the past 2 days (within the city and showing off my new car to my friends and relatives ). This is sure a good driveable car. Very planted and a Huge boot to add. The engine note does get "rorty" once the turbo kicks in, but it is bearable (Barely 100kms on the odo)

Shocks all around are Gas filled - so you literally float on the roads. The huge boot is a plus. Tubeless tires - JK Vectra 185/70 (Overdrive mentioned these as non gripping)

The DLX model is available with Central Locking, Rear Headrests and power windows with a price difference of 60k from the base model. I thought this was on the higher side. All the above except the Rear headrest are available at 12k, outside.

Turning radius for this car is 5.25mts (5 mts for the indigo i believe)

Hi,

What exactly is bad about the interiors? Is it the quality of plastics? Or the colour used?

CrAzY dRiVeR - Just check out the image of this door pad

This is fully made of Plastic (of decent quality). No fabric at all. Door handle ??. But looking the other way. just a mug of mild soap water is enough to clean this

Look at the location of the Bottle for steering fluid. Deep behind the headlamp with a lot of wires criss crossing. Am i not supposed to keep checking it and just dunno how they will do at the service station ?

Only the moulded carpet is available in the car. No complimentary doormats etc. Mahindra has provided some plastic sheets (similar to the doormats) with velcro on them to be stuck to the carpet. Just put your feet on them twice and they are out

pugram, that's not irregular paint. As you said it's damping for the boot all cars have it.

What surprises me is the absence of carpeting in the boot just exposed metal.

Good pics, pugram. Just today, i was checking out a friend's Logan at church. Basically the car looks good, as big & spacious as the fiesta if not more. Yes, the door trims are sad, could have been better. I couldn't find the ODO in the speedo console. where is it ? can you post a closer look of the dials ?
