Nope... thats the 0-100 of the c220. Even autocar lists it as 10.37s.

@karan: Those are ex showroom prices. There'll be atleast 3-4 lacs of tax on it.... depending on where you live.

oh that way the Laura minus the taxes is about 14.4 , and On road mumbai is 19.06 Lakhs (L & K - A/T) and 18.43 Lakhs (L & K - M/T) , whereas the C220 Cdi is 32.53 lakhs @ mumbai (MT) and 34.29 (AT).
So what the arguement all about ?

The whole argument is that comparing a Laura to a C220 both in terms of performance is lame... There's a 40bhp difference between the two... which is not insignificant.

36 bhp to be precise ..... looking at the figures it should have performed well ... it wasnt only an performance comparison but also , looks , features ,the value for money , Anyway .... check out how the arguement started ... il enlighten you on that fact .... Mr. Kumar was confused between an 2nd hand c-class and an 2nd hand laura , so for that point to be seen in a broader spectrum , it is compared .... the THREAD ALSO SAYS " Diesel for between 10-15 L " and not " LAURA v/s C220 Cdi "

Karan - I agree the Laura is fantastic VFM and you own one too a good choice.

I would never recomend buying a second hand C, however the current C is much better then the Laura in all terms and the 12Lacs premium is worth it. The Laura has been launched recently wheras the New C when launched will be so much more better then the Laura, precisely because, what ever Mercedes makes is one of the best, no wonder its the future of the Automobiles. FYI the first ABS, Airbags in a road car was on a Mercedes Benz S Class, all these technos are invented by Mercedes and used by the Czechs with the help of other German Co. like VW and Audi. Skoda as a company is nothing but a rebranded VW, and to prove the point just open your Laura's hood and you will see VAG parts.

Anyways i myself suggested Kumar to buy a Laura and if not the Laura then the Magnum but calling the Laura better then C is something not-so-sensible.

IMHO the Laura makes a sensible buy within a reasonable budget & excellent features, driveability & FE. Second choice would be the Oprtra Magnum Diesel.

Cheers

Haven't turned the last few pages.
Thread title says Diesel for 10-15L.
My answer: Optra Magnum TCDi.

Hey, I'm back at the starting point. Well not really - I guess its between the new Magna and the used Laura. Will try to follow up on the Laura that I am looking at.

Any idea of the A.S.S. of the Optra? A friend has the Optra petrol and is pretty disgusted with the service in Bangalore.

Among the new ones if the Sonata fits the budget then go for it, it is a high quality car with an good engine.
Don't go for the Elantra, it is in for replacement.
Optra Magnum is an excellent car, my choice since I think the Sonata is out of budget.

Among the used ones, the Laura Diesel sounds like the better bet, excellent hi tech engine, great gearbox, build quality, space. It has everything.

My recommendation: Sonata Embera. If that's out of budget then Optra Magnum (new car for me any day). Laura if you're okay with spending 12-13 lacs on second hand.

If you can get me a used Laura for 12-13 I will be FOREVER grateful. I am looking at prices between 16-16.5 for a year old Laura. OTR price in Bangalore is 20 L

Update - got a call right now from my friend [at midnight]. Says that My Laura deal may go thru at 16.25L. What do you guys think? Its an absolutely clean car at 3.65L less than the OTR price of a new car.
