No ways should you get rid of the Skoda RS for a 14 year old MR2. As good as the MR2 is, the RS is far newer, safer and better.

I think you should just stick to your RS, the mr2 is a 14yr old car and some issues are sure to come up.
O.T: how much is he asking for the MR2??

I see that U're interested in looks and power.
So, going by it, I suggest keep the RS and do it up.The only logical reason and MR2 should be considered against an RS would be for track use where the mid-engine mount and rear wheel drive would give a slight advantage which can even be shadowed by the RS' superb handling and power.
So, stick to the RS.

I would suggest you to Stick to the RS.. buying a 14year old car(not knowing the condition and how used)might become a reason for you to have sleepless nights.. so think about it before taking any decisions.. just a thought from my end..cheers..

The vRS is by far the best car available in India for performance under 20Lacs, exchanging it for something better would be wrong, the only car i would think of would atleat be the BMW 325i.

MR2 = great car - constant maintainence & sleepless nights UNLESS you get a car in MINT condition, which I seriously doubt you will for 5.5L. Unless you spend 10L on imprting a new engine & change everything mechanical in it. You will still have all the rattles & niggles.

RS = great car (especially as yours is remapped). Spares available, reliablity high, drives well. Peaceful sleep !!!

If you still want to do the Octavia RS up I suggest you meet up with Arush aka Autopsyche. He has done enough work on Octavias to give you good guidance. Check out www.autopsyche.com. (The site is down-just checked) Here is his contact number # 9810518681

All the best

Cheers

Is it really 10 lakhs to import a new engine? what about used engines? you can find used engines for really cheap.

Either way you should keep the skoda, just spend a little more money on her, get some adjustable coilovers and drop the ride height a bit and get some 18 or 19 inch wheels on the car. Whats the point of buying an old car whose history you don't know. Goodluck
