XETA or IndigoCS?

Hi guys,

Now that I've decided to go for a petrol vehicle, I am in two minds between the TATA Indica XETA GLG and the all-new TATA IndigoCS GLS.

The XETA seems more VFM; the Indigo does not come equipped with Central Locking and PW (Front and Rear), and I do not intend having aftermarket PWs fitted, since they invariably tend to conk out eventually.
On the other hand, with the Indigo, I'd have almost 400 litres of boot space and wider tyres.

I am about to bore you guys just a bit, with the differences between the two:
1. Engine Description

I have a budget of about 5L OTR.
It's gotta be a Petrol, and it's gotta be between these 2 vehicles.
Looking for ride comfort, space and VFM.

Fire away guys!

Like I said, it's gotta be between the two vehicles.

I forgot to mention, there's almost a 65K price difference.

Will the FE be almost the same with the two?

If you are specific about these two vehicles i would still go for Indigo CS.
Inspite of all this i would be crazy if i would not recommend you a Swift Dzire.
Give it a look and then decide.

Would you be aware of the launch date, technical specifications and features of this vehicle?

From the pictures posted on another thread, the front resembles the Swift. Besides, they plan on pricing the base petrol version at around 4.5L, a neat 65K higher than the Indigo. I don't think I'd be too interested.

I heard about 26th March Launch in New Delhi. The interior trim quality will be better in the Dzire than the Indigo CS/ Xeta. Have a look at the Dzire if it doesnt suit your needs then go for the Tata.

After taking a look at the features list, it looks like you will have to sacrifice a lot for a boot and slightly bigger tyres.

But, in my opinion, except for a tachometer and power windows, there is nothing that you'll miss on a daily basis.

Its for you to decide if you can live with the things you'll not get in the CS.

I suggest you to go for Indigo CS since anyways a Sedan will always be better and wanted to be driven. In the due course you feel that you should have gone for Indigo instead of Xeta.

If you don't need the boot, get the hatch, its always more fun to drive a hatch.
Moreover from my experience, the indica handles better, esp on twisty mountain roads.
the Indigo(non CS) has rear independent suspension which is amazing for ride, but is no great shakes for handling.
Don't know how will the CS handle though.

On a more practical front, in the city its easy to whip around the indica, but in case of indigo, you have to watch that boot.

Actually No... In my TD I felt at ease with the CS's small Boot extension. with respect to a regular Indigo yes, I agree with u, the CS is a bit diff in that respect. its hardly 10-12 Centimeter's more than a U-VA or other such long hatchbacks.

For daily driving, the Xeta should be just fine. IMO, the Indigo CS just has the advantage of having a larger boot if at all you plan a outing with family etc; and besides that you can always have the option of upsizing the rims and the tires on the Xeta with the money thus saved.

The only thing CS is giving you extra is a boot and better rear seat ride.
If these are important buy CS, otherwise go for the Xeta, simple!

Luv-- I agree with you on the pricing, the CS starts at 3.66L and the GLS petrol is 3.85, Vs the 4.5L Rumored dZire, its a steal. But as a maruti owner I can say the build quality of TATA is lot less than a Maturi. Not that It wont work...But if u can live with it, Its great VFM. Let me know once you make the purchase. I am waiting till Diwali/dushera for some price cuts from TATA to buy the CS.
