damn ppl am even more confused now .....did look at the base version of the corolla and it sucks big time.also the colours were not too great.make the car look very mundane.whereas the optra has nice exterior colours and a nice interior especially the 1.6 royale.and love the sunroof makes the car look very chic...............drove the corolla but felt uneasy cos of the high driver seating position and somehow it felt as if the car was rolling too much into corners....wasnt giving me enuff confidence like the ikon does.drove a friends optra 1.6,wasnt great shakes ......didint feel like a rice rocket but the interiors, the seating position all makes u calm down and drive the car like a gentleman.......as the optra offers more eauipment for the same money as a corolla 1.8J(base model) which doesnt even have wooden finish centre console....rear defogger.....so a middle finger to the toyota and hats off to the chevy....and if i feel the need for speed, well the accord, ikon, siena, karizma r still dere waiting........thanx all of u guys for ur advice, really appreciate all of u takin out time to answer and hv booked a chevy optra 1.6royale in the new colour(cadillac white).

hey hellspawn.

congrats on your purchase. DOnt have much experience with the 1.6 but hope it is a good engine. I think the 1.8 though not as fast as 1.6 may quench your thirst for performance. The price will me more though and FE will be less.

enjoy your optras luxury and do post pics with your initial review.

budget is not even half as important as buying a good car according to the needs. If you father has booked it than it certainly must be meeting your family's requirements.

congratulations.

..when we bought the Optra a month back there was no Royale and no Caddy White ..
but did manage a good deal withh all the addons ..
first impression was satisfactory ..but ride wise i still prefer my Corsa ..
Corolla does have an edge over the 1.8holden in terms of FE ..
but i still dont agree with the fact that a Corolla is fast through corners ..

I somehow dont like the heavy front cars like the NHC,Indigo and corolla.

optra interiors are the best and looks more expensive than the corolla.
