Earthquake in Indonesia, Felt in India: 11-Apr-2012

Have felt it @ Chennai, DLF, Porur.
Everyone from DLF IT Park has been evacuated and Tsunami Warning also been raised.
Tsunami will be hitting Chennai around 5PM.

I also stay in north Bangalore. I was just relaxing on my sofa after lunch . It is a really heavy sofa and my legs were vibrating mildly. I couldn't understand anything. entered our block after lunch and found people standing around; someone said they felt a earthquake. everybody just stood around laughing and talking excitedly. i walked to my desk, sat down and was drinking from my water bottle when i felt my chair shaking. first i felt i was imagining it, but it happened again.

i immediately shutdown my laptop, packed my bag and by then the evacuation announcement came and people started moving towards the safe assembly point.

we waited for some time and headed back inside (damn

). posting this sitting at my desk hosting a tele-con

People here in office (colleagues) felt it happen again at around 4:21 PM IST, though milder than the first and less number of people felt it this time.

Anyone?

There was one more in all most same place with magnitude of 6.0 . most probably a after tremor of 8.7

Edit:- One more of magnitude 8.2 in same place. it getting worse now.

Yes very evident it was in my cabin. Have kept a bottle of water half empty for warning

With Ertiga slated for launch tomorrow in India and Indonesia, will Maruti Suzuki go ahead and launch it tomorrow?

Will it be the right thing to do? I don't know, but the thought just came across my mind.

In fact when the quake struck at 2:15 PM IST earlier and when I felt the tremors here in Bangalore, I was reading on Team-BHP and other sites about what the codename R3 is and how it evolved into Ertiga. Coincidence!

With so much of attachment to Indonesia, will Ertiga be launched a planned?

Goodness... this seems to be a Global Phenomenon.

Everyone felt the tremors , i have been to different parts of Bangalore since morning, and never felt the shake shake thingy, maybe most of the times i was in my car, i could not have felt

I was in the 9th floor of my office building. At around 2.15PM, we all felt strong tremors that shook the building. The tremor almost lasted for 25 seconds. We all left the building and back to seats by 3.45. We again felt the tremors at 4.15 PM that shook the building again. We were asked to leave the office and now I am at home. The whole Chennai is in Panic mode now. Lakhs of people on road leaving home at the same time.

So, the people dont really care. They have forgotten what happened in 2004?
