Re: Seating Luxury & Massage Chairs

Posting from this La-Z-Boy bought on Fabmart.com. Damn comfortable, these guys have a serious understanding of support + ergonomics. Using a laptop or watching a movie just got better .

Great! Does it give good thigh and lower-leg support without an additional footrest?

What was the price and buying experience? As it is an online purchase, could you post the link please?

Questions... Questions!

Excellent all-round support. At 5'10", the length covers my entire frame, right up to the ankle (not the feet).

Fabmart was very professional with the delivery. Was committed delivery in a month as each is apparently a custom build, but I got it in 3 weeks. Their response time to queries is slow though.

They are authorised La-Z-Boy dealers (link to product listing). Keep looking for deals. I got mine at nearly 50% off the currently listed prices (Adam XR+ @ 1.07 lakhs).

Wow... I'm done with spending that sort of money on furniture. I did for my desk chair, and it is still waiting to get repaired post-flood.

If it is long-lasting and maintains its comfort, though, the capital cost will cease to matter after a year or ten. Wishing you many happy hours of comfortable relaxation

Didn't know La-Z Boy was in India until your post. At one time, products from this brand used to last for decades but reviews I read online yesterday seem to suggest that quality has gone downhill in the past few years. Would be interested to know about your long-term experience as I am contemplating buying after I have saved enough to splurge on one.

If affordability is a concern then I have a perfect compromise model. About a year back I had a couple of LaZboy models customised from Stanley Boutique, it was stitched with high grade Italian Rexine (leatherette) which feels soft, supple and is much more easily cleanable than real leather which I avoid completely anyway.

The model name is Harbor Town which is a rocker/recliner and when reclined in any of the 3 positions the rocker will lock firmly. The mechanism is smooth and doesn't really require an expensive electrical motor as the back will slide depending on the weight you put on it.. feels quite body-intuitive. The key advantage with this model is that it'll enter fully assembled through any door-frame as the arm-rests are slender yet adequate. The models with wide arm-rests have to be brought in dismantled.

The cost works out to a very acceptable Rs.37k per unit (for Italian rexine), else its about Rs.33-34k for normal rexine. One year of usage and the mechanism is as smooth as ever. I figure another 2-3 years of flawless working and it should be worth it. Fabric ones go for as low as Rs.29k but they will be a hassle to maintain.

Re: Seating Luxury & Massage Chairs

It's one of those if you have the spare cash things. Damn, did I mention I bought a Herman Miller Embody desk chair a few years ago? That was nearly 1 lakh. And, sadly, now waiting for flood-damage repair.

So long as the money is available at the time, and the thing purchased is really satisfactory and lasts a long time, the purchase price soon becomes irrelevant. If it lasts long enough, it becomes irrelevant even to an accountant!

I almost guessed Herman Miller when you mentioned expensive desk chair but refrained from asking. I sat in a HM Aeron in a former clients office, I guess Embody is their flagship chair as of now. Is the damage covered under the 10 year warranty or are they charging for it? Their parts/service isn't cheap either. That also means water has come in almost to the level of 1+ feet in your home, enough to submerge the hydraulic chamber and springs of the chair. No one ever saw this coming in a city where scant rainfall 4-5 times a year is the norm along with a couple of cyclonic depressions.

What irritates me about Herman Miller is how much discount they give to large companies (the discount is ridiculous) when bought in bulk but they end up charging closer to 6 digits when someone is buying a single unit. I've also seen these large corporations dump them after using for 6-7 years in bulk at even more ridiculous prices (<Rs.10,000) to the start-ups or used furniture dealers. They should retain the premium pricing with everyone as the brand is premium, its like the Rolls-Royce of swivel chairs.

Much worse: it came to waist/table-top level. It is the seat base that is most affected. it is some sort of non-metalic springy material that can't stand immersion. They are fixing as much as possible under warranty, and I appreciate that, but have had to wait a very long time, and even now, parts have to come from USA.

I gather that they could be picked up for almost nothing at the time of USA startup mania (basic economic lesson: don't waste capital on stupid furniture!) and failures.

And, is it worth it? No. The Aeron might be, but the embody is not. It's all paying for a fancy "system." Other simpler chairs work too... maybe even better,

Re: Seating Luxury & Massage Chairs

Our OSIM iSymphony massage chair had stopped working, and the technician got it working by replacing the board. While speaking to him, he shared that the current good models are from Panasonic and Robotouch.

The chair has been a boon for my mom, who uses it regularly.

Apparently OSIM used to get it's items from Japan, and these units were good. But after they started sourcing from china, the quality and price have gone in opposite directions.

Re: Seating Luxury & Massage Chairs

This forum has literally everything! From mattresses to even massagers…this never ceases to surprise me.

I’m looking to gift a foot massager to a friend who suffers from plantar fasciitis. Confused between lifelong, JSB and Agaro. The models I’m looking for are the ones only for the feet … not the feet+calf ones.
Heat functionality is preferable as I’m given to understand that it’s more relieving.
Does anyone here have any prior experience with these products and what would the forum’s suggestion be?

Products under consideration:
Lifelong LLM81
JSB HF28
Agaro 33158

Gift him/her proper shoes. Good sports shoes (gel insoles if using formals) and stretching exercises will do more good for plantar fasciitis than a foot massager IMO.

Already uses gel soles ( from decathlon) in all the shoes.

Consulted any doctor? Maybe the shoes themselves are the culprit. The gel soles are just to provide some cushioning till the actual condition improves.

Yessir, the job requires long hours of standing and per the doc this is a result of it. Shoes are restricted to Naturalizers and hush puppies mostly.
