I'd fiddled with my router settings some time back without understanding much. Will follow your advice once I'm back in Bangalore.

Airtel put some ads yesterday about some broadband surprises it had lined up for its broadband landline subscribers. I just put in my landline number and got a message that they have added 5GB data free to my monthly quota.
This will continue every month till I change my current plan.

I tried this last week and got 3 GB extra. Tried again yesterday and it said somebody from their office will contact regarding the 'surprise'.

Tried just now. I am supposed to get 15 GB extra every month. I have a 60GB monthly plan.

Check BSNL's new plans. I got the 1091 plan - 8Mbps / 60GB.
yes, that's correct. Upgraded in 4 hours after giving the letter request

Which provider are you talking about? Which Area?

Can guys in Pune suggest a good broadband provider for Dhayari area ? I have recently shifted here. I had a good bsnl connection earlier while I was in bibwewadi but here BSNL refuses to give a landline connection citing some reason or the other.

I am using bsnl evdo for now but it is very very slow, often getting low or no signal.

Any inputs highly appreciated !

Thanks. I'm on the 8mbps / 60GB plan. Checked now, they're offering an incredible 2GB free per month :D That's only if I share the surprise with friends on Facebook or Twitter. I'm on neither, so there it goes.

Sharing on FB, Twitter is not mandatory, they just make it look like it is.

They are giving away either additional speed or GBs as compensation to existing customers as the rates have been reduced for all the plans. If you change your plan, up or down, the freebie goes away.

I checked mine. I have got 40GB free every month till i migrate to another plan.

I have 8MBPS/80GB plan from airtel bb

I am paying atrocious, 1500 + Taxes = above 1700 for 2mbps 30 GB limit, after this limit the speed goes to 512 kbps

Sad, our apartment guys donot allow any other provider than airtel and airtel says, cannot do wiring for any other speed. So will have to bear at this speed only.

Airtel surprise has given me 10 GB additional this month.

Chennai, Bangalore is heaven for internet speeds. I was paying 499 per month 1mbps unlimited download/upload

So it has been a mixed bag of surprises from Airtel broadband. I got a princely sum of extra 2 gb free for my Bangalore number. lol: I am on 16mbps, 60gb free. I migrated this month.
For my Mumbai number I got 5gb free. There I was on 8mbps, 30gb free plan for 999 rs. For both of the above,I got an sms and email confirmation on the extra GBs.

I did share it on Facebook and immediately deleted from my wall.it was about 6 am in the morning, so suspect if anyone would have read it on my wall at all :)

I was offered 2Gb if I share on FB, i just closed the webpage, no way will I sell for them. However, I still got an sms that I will be getting the kings ransom of 2Gb extra... totally worthless :Frustrati
