I switched to V2Networks recently after Wifi ditched their customer like how Fiat did few year ago.
V2 Networks works on fixed wireless (receiver modem on your building and from there LAN cable to PC) plans. 1MBS unlimited , I pay 849 /PM.
So far so good on speed and availability
Thanks

Has anybody tried 'ACT' fiber broadband in Chennai? Their offer seems quite decent and they seem to be the only fiber broadband provider in Chennai!! |
Got the connection activated yesterday. Opted for the base plan at 1122/month. Getting download speeds of 21MB/s. So far awesome.clap:
Switched from Airtel to Yashtel recently - 10mbps/80gb plan. Rs.1200 per month, can save Rs.700 if paying quarterly, so comes to Rs.2900/- for 3 months.
Seems like value for money compared to Airtel which was ~1700 per month for 8mbps/60gb but pathetic upload speeds.

Hey there!
Thanks for sharing your feedback about ACT!
I too, have been wondering about shifting to ACT for some time now. Airtel isn't cutting it anymore from the speed/cost/FUP point of view. If you don't mind, could you please let me know the area you reside in?
I'm in Thiruvanmiyur, and if you know anything about the service of ACT in that area, please do let me know.
Thanks & cheers! :thumbs up
Folks, not a question about broadband, but about data access on the mobile (I guess 3G).
I use Airtel prepaid in Bangalore and my call charges are not much as people usually call me instead. I am now thinking of enabling data either through Airtel or someone else to use with Google Maps as I do not have GPS in my car.
I was wondering if there is something similar to my current voice plan where I pay some 400 odd rupees once in a while and this amount never expires, so I simply pay for usage. On the other hand, all the data plans I looked into from Airtel & BSNL are valid for just a few days.
BSNL Combo plan. ULD 675.
I am a sedated internet user. 512 Kbps is good enough for browsing, office vpn , team-bhp and mobile email sync I guess.
Don't try HD youtube since it buffers for ever :D
Best part is free long calls with mom on old fashion landline.
Using it in Koramangala, Bangalore and surprisingly the service is awesome here. Last 7 years almost issue less except couple of down times.

If you go for the pay per use scheme the costs are really high. IIRC it's 1p/10kb which will lead to a lot of costs of you use internet continuously. Instead go for a monthly plan of 3G with any operator. Currently I pay 186 per month for 1GB of 3G data. Before I was using 2G since I have 8MBPS broadband. Since my phone is useless with 2G, and I am getting 3G for more or less the same price, I am using it.
I have no wired ISP option here except Asianet FTTH connection. They asked Rs5000 alone for connection with Fibre modem(ONT?). The cost for "Fibre modem" is Rs3700 or so! Is this too expensive? I believe ONT's from iBall will come lesser.
EDIT: Their prepaid plans? Rs 900 for 20GB at 4mbps speed. :(

Thanks for the info! Could you tell me who your provider is? Also I wonder if one can have a data plan only without an associated voice plan. Then perhaps I would prefer to get another SIM for my dual SIM Moto G just to use with a post paid data plan.
Finally got my FTTH connection done. Had opted for 999 plan. 4 MBps till 8 GB and then 512 kB.
Now switched to a new plan - 1045. 20 MBps till 50 GB. Grinning ear to ear now!!!

You could try a bsnl 3G prepaid. Costs about 175 bucks for 1Gb Vs. 250 by other operators. I can't see where you are located (as I am writing this on a mobile device) but most Metros have good Bsnl speeds.
I am planning to shift my Airtel prepaid to Bsnl as well.
Maybe this is something you can try.
I switched over to Mtnl after using Airtel for about 5 months.
Fantastic speed and zero downtime on Airtel.
But the data cap was 15gb, after which it went from 4mbps to 512. The cap used to get exhausted in about a week, after which I had to buy additional high speed data. So my effective bill was about double of my regular bill, paying about 2500 a month.
Mtnl is only 1 mbps but I can live with that for now, since there's no cap.
The best part came in when the retention pitch started. The cc offered me 30 GB, then 35, then 40!!
No additional amount.
Bear in mind that smartbytes gives 5 GB for 299!
I was tempted, but even 40 at 4 mbps will be gone pretty soon, I know. If someone is on Airtel, give it a shot, I think. :D
Am on Airtel 2Mbps at 999 40Gb
They couldn't give me 4 Mbps so they offered me this undocumented plan. I also get 1000 mins free on all local calls.
I have a second Youbroadband connection for YouTube etc costing me 2500 a quarter for 12mbps with 155Gb which it falls to 1mbps unlimited.
