Share your Phobia: Everyone has one!

Hello Everyone,

Read the Spooky experience thread and was scared to the core!

Thinking about the same, I invite all members to share their Phobias here.
For instance:
I have a phobia of Ghosts and all scary things that follow: Phasmophobia

Also I am dead scared of all insects: Entomophobia. Contrary to this I can hold a Lizard in my hand with ease and am not scared of it.

I am sure we all have some or the other Phobia. Let's share.

Re: Share your Phobia: Everyone has one!

I have Phasmophobia too but only when its dark, like pitch black. However, I've seen the scariest of horror movies, including the most terrifying Thai & Jap horror, and whenever there is a new horror movie out I make a point to see it.

I'm able to sleep in dark if my wife is with me otherwise I have a relatively tough time sleeping alone in a hotel room during business travel so I have to keep the TV & lights on.

Otherwise I'm not scared of insects or anything else that I can think of, lizard gives me the creeps but I can easily manage chasing it out of the room.

Re: Share your Phobia: Everyone has one!

Hi Pratik,

I too am scared of ghosts and it has rekindled the sensation after reading the posts. But somehow get a kick by reading it, Well, what i'm scared of most are the moths and flying insects. I've had close encounters with animals in wild, but the insects and darkness(read ghost) scare me more than the animals!!

Let's wait who else confesses here!!!

Not scared of ghosts, in fact, not a person who easily gets scared of stuff like these. But I have a fear of heights to some degree. No, I have no problems traveling in an airplane, etc. Just that I feel little uneasy when looking down straight from the roof of a multistoreyed building. And other one which I cannot miss, is I have a fear of being enclosed somewhere. Technically, you can call that I am claustrophobic.

Re: Share your Phobia: Everyone has one!

OMG, ophidiophobia! This thing is really debilitating when I think that there is not much way out with a face to face with this reptile. Add to it that these things can keep quite unnoticed till someone accidentally steps/get near to it. I tread very carefully around my house where these reptiles are aplenty. I also have a spine chilling sensation seeing them even on TV. Even inside my home, many a time, I fear encountering them around a blind corner and hence tread carefully.

I have not even checked out the snakes thread on this forum fully. Once I checked, the discussion was about snakes coming through the bathroom closet!

Is there any other solution than exposure theory?

I am scared of Spiders, Cockroaches, Lizards and all kinds of flying insects.

I am also scared of street dogs that chase me at night for no good reason.

I am scared of my wife. Most Married men know that this is the phobia to end all phobias.

Entomophobia. (Only when I have no way out and they are in my path.)
Ranidaphobia. (I wish I could kill 'em.......with fire.)
Acrophobia. (I'm trying to get over this one.)
Vertigo. (I had my eyes closed while watching the 'drifting away' sequence in Gravity!)
Phasmophobia. (This one's hardwired into everyone's mind I guess.)
Philophobia. (Don't ask Name: icon9.gif

I am scared of travelling by plane. I am fine once I am in the flight, but the very thought of any impending travel by flight keeps me awake for several nights.

Re: Share your Phobia: Everyone has one!

Are married men really scared of their wives or just scared of offending them in some day because (a) they love their wives or (b) they don't want to deal with tears and stuff or (c) they don't want to forego dinner?

Woah that's rare! What made you fear them?

Flying insects make me go all girly around the house. I end up killing them almost every time.

Re: Share your Phobia: Everyone has one!

I have a couple of phobias too, I'm claustrophobic, it was never a problem a few years back, but now I feel suffocated going into any narrow space, I get giddy peering over a short parapet wall on terraces of tall buildings and I abhor cockroaches!! All other forms of life are ok :-)

I thought I'm the only one who reacts like this. Even I fear insects to death, and those flying cockroaches are the worst!!!

I remember once a moth (of the larger than usual kind) flew in my house through the window. Usually, if it is a small insect resting on a wall, I softly catch it in a napkin and throw it out the window.

But this guy gave me such a hard time, I was just so scared to hold it in the napkin. My usually fast reflexes became super slow that day, but found a new idea that day. I covered the moth with a big bowl, and then slid a thin plastic sheet between the bowl and the wall causing the insect to end between the sheet and the bowl. Only then was I able throw it
