Amongst the exotics and classics that you people are posting in this thread, I guess I will be excused for posting this. Though I am a fan of brand Hyundai, I have never ever found a original scale model of a Hyundai car. All I have is some cheap looking Chinese made Hyundai scale models until I got this as a gift from a friend of mine who happened to visit Hyundai HQ in Seoul.

Agreed, Hyundai have just started making cars which would become collectibles. Anyways, for a fan like me, here comes the i30 (and this is my 125th scale model).

Make: Hyundai
Model: i30
Die-Cast Manufacturer: Welly
Scale: 1:38

Sorry for the average quality snaps, partly because of the limitations of my point and shoot cam and partly because of my limited knowledge in the nuances of photography.

I've noticed the irony in this as well. The scale models of low end vehicles cost more than the luxury & exotic brands rl:

I've got a Skoda Octavia(the Laura as it's called here),a Toyota Corrola and a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado from the above mentioned Chinese brands and while I agree that they're a lot pricier than they should be,they do boast of excellent build quality.

Probably the reason for such pricing could be the rarity/exclusivity of such models, costs involved manufacture of such models should be high as the production is limited and costs of scaling down-developing dies-blah blah remains high. Its just opposite in case of exotics as production runs high, cost comes down.

Here is the NEw MAisto List of cars which will be coming to Gift Center soon.

Like a few of you mentioned the chinese models do a fair amount of detailing and the quality is very good too. This is infact the most detailed in my collection. Even the fuel lid opens :). It is a lot heavier too. I previously owned a corsa and now own a corolla, hence the motivation to have a 1:18 of the cars I own. Ordered a corsa too, should be arriving in the next 10-15 days. below are few photos of my 1:18 Toyota Corolla.

I have the Epica for the similiar reason, wanted a diecast of the car I own, had to have it shipped from China. The details are excellent.

Here are a few pics i took yesterday ,also did some photoshop so that they look good . Apart from the miniature cars i also found an APACHE CHOPPER which used to be one of my favourites to play with during childhood days .(umm i think i am still a child ) :p
F40 , XJ220 and an 'suv' (?)

Lovely ravi bhai, growing week in my knees to get one for me, it's been a while since I bought a scale model.

FINALLY the pictures of the SL63 and SL550 are out. No official pics of the SL65 though!!

@SuperSelect not sure what the model exactly is. The box had toyota written all over it. The underbody of the car in addition to the scale said FAW Toyota Motor Co, so am guessing it is some local chinese make. Will try and upload the underbody photo sometime. Awesome detailing there as well.

Hey and the woody station wagon, I can almost picture an older American movie.

@RPMPKDMFF Thanks, please do share pics of the epica (dont remember seeing them in this thread, vast thread ... pardon me if you already had).

@manishalive Thanks, I did carry my car model with me when I peered into the bonnet of my corolla, there was not too much different.
