And not everyone is a great fan of his mods. Most of the mods on this SLS are really basic DIY mods that many collectors can do themselves.

Indeed. It would be better to buy a Minichamps SLS at that price, or DIY.
Could you please tell me who's the "first"?

It's easy to pass off judgements like these. Nobody is forcing anybody to buy anything. Those who don't like it can simply ignore it.

To each his own, DIY mods on a scale model car are not that easy. I have learnt it the hard way a couple of times. Manish and Cyrus are the only ones who have those skills and the guts as far as I know. Guys at diecastxchange and project 118 make it look easy, which it's not.

I am hoping for some really good quality work as I know what he's capable of. Sometimes, pics don't do justice to the quality of the worksmanship.

+1. Let's see how the first batch turns out to be. He's doing it just as a hobby in his free time. Serious body mods would require a lot of time, money and energy.

Could you please show how this is done? Because it sounds quite easy from the way you describe.

Nice pics of the Minor, BTW.

P.S.: I do some scale model car mods as well but only on 1:32 scale or below.

Yeah, that's my list as of now (I have left Merc Transforter, McLaren F1 road car and like off my list). but to get them in 1:18 or 1:24 is real trouble.

Just painting, the thing is that we have seen his painting skills on his earlier projects. Now how about thinking on Flaring the wheel arches, adding side skirts and then modify the front and rear bumper to match the lines. UK has got lot of options off the shelf for DIY kind.

Thanks! I found the feel of the green paint similar to the feel of PAVAN KADAM's Beetle.

I ordered it from ebay. Think it's 1:24 scale. Have to confirm it.

KiNSMART models are mostly 1:32 pull back models, meant to be toys.
Having collected KiNSMARTs are the likes for over 8 years, I now feel I should have invested that money in 1:18s. In fact they feel like toys now to me.

Yes, Kinsmart are pullback models. I got it for 130 a piece. Since those were my first models, I had a hard time to invest more money on bigger ones.

Now slowly moving to the 500-1k price category. Being an amateur, it might take some time for me to invest on better models.

I find Welly much better than Maisto. Have to see the 12 new models though. They are of Maisto.

Will update with pics once I get hold of them.

Re: The Scale Model Thread

@Manish,
The SLS models are not necessarily meant for serious collectors for you and me but for casual collectors who might not have the time or the skills to do DIY stuff. This time Cyrus is doing the mods a bit more seriously (from what he told me) and more professionally so there (hopefully) won't be any tackiness which might be there in some of his other mods. As far as I know, 3 of them have already been sold.

200 including shipping? That sounds a bit too good to be true.

Anyways another superb model and amazing pictures.
