Thats a great thing, so now we have options of customising our scale models too. But what would be the Delta price over and above the cost of Maisto SLS AMG? If it is too expensive, it would not make much sense.

From the Blog, it the "first ever custom diecast maker" is our own Cyrus43.
and I doubt he is the first ever "custom diecast maker" of India.
And not everyone is a great fan of his mods. Most of the mods on this SLS are really basic DIY mods that many collectors can do themselves.

Indeed. It would be better to buy a Minichamps SLS at that price, or DIY.

Anyway, here's my Minichamps Morris Minor Cabri:

Re: The Scale Model Thread

Arkin: Thats a beautiful Morris Minor. The detailing on the car is outstanding. Nice pictures too. I especially loved the first three pics with the sun set in the background . How much a hole in the pocket for this?

Re: The Scale Model Thread

@Manish: Exactly. Most of the mods mentioned are DIY stuff. I wanted to buy the 1:12 Sunstar, but in my excitement to get a Morris + shortage of space, I bought this one. Are there pics of the 1:12 on this thread??

Thanks for the kind words Dippy! I'll see if I can dig out more pics. This was the last piece Automania had, and cost me 3500 rupees, which is damn reasonable when compared to the insanely priced AAs we get here in Bangalore.

EDIT: In 2010 I undertook a whole lot of outdoor shoots. Watch this space guys, for more.

@zibby: Love the Panamera. But I wished it had red calipers like the black one Ravi (diecast) has.

3.5k is a damn good price for that Arkin. Nowadays you dont find any models blow the 4k mark seriously. Gone are the days when quite a few Autoarts came for around 3 to 3.5k. Today when look at the few Autoarts I have that I bought like 6 to years ago, Im glad I picked them up them. The ones that I have are most likely not even made now.

I bought my AA BMW E46 M3 Coupe for 2895/- . I have a few others too. The highest price I paid for a model way back then in 2003 was 4,000 for a 1:18 Minichamps Jordan 191 (Schumi's Debut F1 car). He had imported just one piece so I gobbled it up.

Autoart models are seriously overpriced. Adding to that, their quality control isn't as much as their premium commands.
In 2010, they did have models starting from 4000 bucks, but recently, they've hiked the prices from 4000 & 5000 to 5500. So I stopped buying Autoarts in India, and find good deals on ebay instead. To add to the frustration, modelart is a pain to deal with.

But Automania is a great place!! Mr Rakhesh sells most of his Kyoshos for 3900-4500 bucks!!! For some models, the pricing is probably the cheapest in the world!
Many Minichamps models are not overtly priced either.

I only hope Norev and Hot wheels elite come to India, we could get pretty VFM models for probably just about 3000-3500 bucks.

Actually the model is with my sister in UK, postage is real cheap that way. But you can have a look at what I ordered at their website.

SUN STAR - Limited Edition

One day I will add a convertible and the 2 door to my collection too.

Arkin, that's a superb Minor- I bought one too, from Automania a while ago. You have truly outstanding photography skills.

That's rather humbline. About the camera, I used my dearest Nikon COOLPIX L21 8 Mpx, which I've lost. I use a COOLPIX S70 now.

Anyway, here are some pics of my '62 Ford Thunderbird Sports Roadster.
Pics taken using my 1st digicam, so please excuse the quality.

EDIT: Here's a brief review I'd posted in Scalemodelcarz last year:
"Though this is an economy model w/o an opening boot, the 1962 Thunderbird Roadster by Welly, never ceases to delight my eyes when I look at my display. The model is awesome to look at, with it whitewall tires 'wire' wheels, the liberal dose of chrome, and the contrast between the chrome, pale cream body, the black soft-top and the dark maroon interiors. The use of Tampo printing is delightful, unlike the cheap stickers used by Maisto. The interiors are just about good, and the chrome is OK for an economy model, and could be a bit better.Under the hood, there is a separate engine block, if you could call it that. The underbody is decent too. The model is so pretty that the fact that the boot doesn't open doesn't affect its overall rating much.
My overall rating: 9/10. A Recommended Model.
VFM Rating: 9/10"
