They have a simulator as well.

I told them that it's a pity this shop is at Departure, although the manager did say they ship across India.
Coincidentally I was just there yesterday! V.Narayan had also posted about this shop a few years back on this thread. The shop does have an interesting variety but the prices are on the higher side, in India ordering online from DB Jets would be a better option.

Ive bought a few scale models (1:400 and 1:500) of commercial aircraft from this chap. Having paid up on my way out, he shipped the goods to me and by the time I came back home after my 10 day trip the 3-4 scale models were waiting for me.

I have also bought a few scale models from ebay and they are of excellent quality. Only irritant is that one has to pay a hefty duty when they come in.

Re: Scale Models - Aircraft, Battle Tanks & Ships

Hello everybody, I have been following this thread for many years now and am finally posting here for the 1st time.

I have been collecting military aviation scale models in the 1:48 scale for more than a decade now and have a small collection so far and increasing it as & when possible. My area of interest is the Indian military. The idea was to build them as a hobby & a personal collection for display. However due to various reasons I have decided to shelve the idea of building them myself & found a professional doing custom builds.

My collection so far: (all in 1/48 scale)

MiG 21PF, 23ML, 25RB, 27MF, 29A/B, 29K
Su 7, 27, 30
Mi 8, 24/25
Ka 27, 50

Dassault Mirage 2000, Rafale
SEPECAT Jaguar
Apache AH-64
Chinook CH-47

Folland Gnat
Iskra
Sea harrier
Sea Hawk

I bought these kits online (Revell easy fit) as toys for my son. They do not require glue only snap fit assembly. scale is 1:100 and the detailing is fairly decent with some wide panel gaps. The F16 though is very basic, detailing could have been better. They all should be displayed flying rather than wheels down, the wheels look puny & out of character....

Welcome to the thread! I have tried a few snap fit models long back they are easy to assemble but obviously details are lacking. Looking forward to the rest of your collection.

Getting them built by a professional is often a good idea. I do that all the time now as I get older and lazier. @Basuroy on this thread is a great professional assembler and painter. You'll see his work on this thread under his name or posted by me.

This sounds like a collection to die for. If all at 1/48 scale some of these must be huge!!! I simply cannot wait to savour the photo collection. Please do share as you get the time. You could do a few models at a time if that reduces the effort.

Thank you for the confirmation, the "red skins" logo, I did not associate it with RNLAF...USAF for sure, hence the confusion.

Thank you very much. Yes, Basuroy is indeed the artist, got to know about him via instagram & he is a member here too.

A couple have been built already, will put them up in a few days with 1 unique model probably the 1st worldwide in Indian livery....

I have decided to get the MiG 23, 27 & Mi-24/25 built in the old Soviet dual/triple/quadruple tone camouflage & also the jaguar with dual tone wraparound camouflage in which they came in originally in the 1980's,this of course will take time.

Sourcing the squadron decals especially for the MiG 23 & 27 is going to be a daunting task as they do not exist in the open market!

I'm guessing the Mi-8 & Chinook once completed will be the largest due to their rotor diameters, Mig-25 RB & Su-30 next size wise.

cannot wait to see it. 1/48 means you have a lot of cabinet space to store/display these lovely birds in. Lack of adequate space is one reason I stayed with 1/72 or smaller.

On the contrary, I am yet to make space for the builds....

I decided on the 1/48 scale because its a compromise between detailing & size. 1/32 models are too big & expensive, 1/72 models are smaller with lesser detailing.

Also when I was in high school (late 1990s) had built a Mig-29 with a friend & a mirage iii myself, did not know about painting & detailing then and realized my folly once the build was complete.... the level of detailing in 1/48 scale of both models piqued my interest.

1/72 scale is good for transport aircraft due to size, though i remember seeing a C130J in 1/48 scale unfortunately did not want to hand carry it back to India and they would not ship it out of country, so left it.

To the best of my knowledge this is the first scale model MiG-29K in Indian livery worldwide.
I have searched many scale modelling forums only the Russian naval aviation version exists.
The kit itself is not a very old one from Hobby Boss.
I will let the pictures do the talking.

Please excuse my rudimentary photography skills it does not do justice to the model, this one is probably the "piece de resistance" of my upcoming collection.

Very smart model!

I always wonder, would a fighter wings ever be folded with armament on it?

This hits the ball out of the park. Indeed it is a masterpiece. Is this a 1:48 scale? If so it must be over 12 inches long!! How long did it take you to assemble. Where did you get the decals from. I agree with your assessment that it is in all probability the first scale model of a Indian Navy MiG-29K and that to in the 2-seater version.

To Jeroen's question - wings do get folded with light armament on the outer folded sections. Photo below of the same type of aircraft.

Delighted to have you on board Blackbeard.

Wow thats a jaw dropping model The detailing and weathering is excellent as well as the fit and finish. Did you make it yourself or someone else built it?

I had seen this kit and wanted to order it but its very complex and I don't have the time for even simple 100 parts models now.

I had made a 1/48 IAF Mig-29 last year and had posted in earlier in the thread. This is from a relatively simple and dated Academy kit.

Thank you. Most photos I have come across is with armaments on folded wings, do not know if they are live munitions maybe dummies but logic says that an operational aircraft must be armed and ready to save time.

Thank you once again, length is 35 cms (Approx)/ almost 14 inches long.
The master craftsman who has executed the build had it for 3 months, decals came with the model except the black panther decal on the tail again sourced by the builder.

This is a single seater version, the 2 seater is a KUB (trainer), in fact the 29K has been developed from the 2 seater 29M2 i think (used by Egypt?) though the canopy is of a 2 seater the rear seat does not exist.

Thank you, I wish i had the skill sets, time & patience for building it myself
The builder (master craftsman) is Basuroy.

I too have the academy MiG29A/B kit, it sure is simpler because of no folded wings, arrestor hook and other complexities.

Re: Scale Models - Aircraft, Battle Tanks & Ships

My 2nd model is a Dassault Aviation Rafale DH - BS007
This is a very popular model with collectors pan India armed with the now famous SCALP munition. Colour is grey OEM paint scheme from Dassault, apparently the only reason the Mirage 2000 still retains the original paint scheme is due to warranty/guarantee reasons, any confirmation on that?
