I have two questions

1. The servo horn. I feel that this is the weakest part of the whole system. Two times the front wheels got misaligned after minor hits - the reason was that this white circular thingy slipped off and the directional alignment of the wheels got messed up.

The Radio / Remote Control Cars Thread. (RC)-img20220622183553.jpg

After the hits, the default wheel direction got changed from the straight orientation to either left or right depending on which wheel took the hit. I had to realign and re-tighten the screw which holds this white circular thing in its place.

Is this common? How can we get around this? Or did I not tighten it enough?
EDIT: After the second incident, I hand-tightened it really well. Not sure if further tightening will cause the plastic to develop cracks.

2. Unequal toe-in of the rear wheels. The RHS real wheel visibly has more toe-in than the LHS. I checked Traxxas online documentation and found that the Slash model doesn't have a toe adjustment and that the toe settings are fixed. By default, the rear wheels will have a toe-in, which is okay but the RHS wheel has more toe-in.

It is evident from this picture. It is not a lens distortion, it is the actual toe-in difference between the rear wheels.

The Radio / Remote Control Cars Thread. (RC)-img20220622184144.jpg

Can we adjust this? Or is it okay to use the model like this?

(As evident from the picture, I was enjoying some donuts )

Re: The Radio / Remote Control Cars Thread. (RC)

We completed the assembly yesterday. Since the kit came with a clear body, we had to paint it. This was the last major step to completion.

Here's a 2-minute video I made - this shows the entire build from start to end, followed by some action clips at the end.

The car gets headlamps and tail lamps

The Radio / Remote Control Cars Thread. (RC)-img20220702184905.jpg

We were mostly using the car at night, so we thought of custom fitting some lights on it so that others can notice the car more easily. I used connectors, wires, LEDs and resistors from my electronics kit, and I didn't have to buy anything.

I wired the circuit onto the body. I may need to buy another body for more aggressive bashing, while this body can be used for having some fun through paved streets at night.

Posting a couple more pictures.

Currently the lights are manually controlled. I need to explore the possibility of controlling them from the remote. I hope there's at least a free channel.

Re: The Radio / Remote Control Cars Thread. (RC)

I used to have a Pontiac Firebird RC Car back in the day. I think it was late 80s or so. My aunt had got it from Singapore. Had lost track of it and randomly asked my father about it and he said it's safe somewhere in the attic.

Had a chance to get back to my parents house and went rummaging through the carton boxes and found it in one piece! Have to get batteries but I am pretty sure it will still work.

I used to play with this car all the time and finding it fills me with joy. Hope it works so that i can pass it on to my son.

And guess what, while searching for that I found this Nikko RC truck as well. The remote is there but the charger adapter is not there. Any idea what the specs for the adapter would be? And where do i change the battery if i have to?

Help?

Off topic : And yes that's a Casio handheld video game

Re: The Radio / Remote Control Cars Thread. (RC)

Hi,

Any recommendation for RC car under 10K. This is first RC car for my 9 yr old kid. Most of the choices that I see on Amazon are of Chinese made.

Any physical store in Pune/ Delhi where I can go and check.

Radio controlled cars are very different to Remote controlled cars. Radio cars are quite expensive to Remote cars. Remote cars are mostly toy grade and cheap. You could easily get at toy shops, departmental stores or places like Hamleys.

That Nikki truck looks like a Monster Zook. Suzuki Samurai lifted with giant tyres.
These toys are just amazing.

HI!

Does anyone know what is the custom duty on the RC 4wd trucks? Something like the Traxxas HOSS or MAXX?

Thanks

Planet_rocker - The RC car's nice but I am looking for an offroader, a truck perhaps.
Shreeram - Now, that's exactly what I am looking for. I don't mind spending on the buying the RC vehicle or maintaining it. The only point is that I have 'shunya' fundaes about it, so I need someone to handhold me into this hobby. I am not really into RC flying.
I don't mind an RC meet, except that none of us Pune TBhpians have any RC stuff! So probably, it's only going to be your brother's (in case he can join us). Thanks a lot for the addresses.

Re: RC Willys MB 1941

That is so cool, what a great little model!! I like how it makes its way across the bumpy terrain.

We have a very cool hobby model shop not too far away from where we live. They have all these fancy RC cars, tanks, trucks, boats, diggers, cranes. I always have to restrain myself, but seriously, in this shop!

Glad to see you did not and just bought it and are enjoying it
