Have been using Pocket Casts for a long time now (since about 2017, I think). At that point in time, was looking for a paid version to avoid ads and this seemed like a good app. They reverted me to the normal version and came up with a Plus version some time back. Fortunately, no ads for me yet (maybe because I paid as an early adopter?). My podcast list is small and hence, have not shifted to Spotify or Amazon Music apps for podcast listening.

However, the feature of playlist you need appears to be part of the Plus version now. Annual price is showing as INR 3,850.

P.S. Off topic, am sad that the Simblified podcast has taken a break to re-think their future roadmap but hopeful that the team will return soon.

Re: The Podcast Thread

Google Podcasts to be discontinued in 2024 and to be replaced with Youtube Music

https://9to5google.com/2023/09/26/go...youtube-music/

This is a pity, as I am quite a heavy user of Google Podcasts. I have tried alternatives, but keep coming back to Google Podcasts.

I have to take a closer look at the alternatives now.

Any luck with this? I was also an happy user of Google Podcasts and had to move out since its discontinued.

I have tried 3-4 other apps ( Antenna Pod, Podcast Addict, etc etc ) in the last 2 months and didnt find anything satisfactory. The UI/playlist etc is messy. But the main pain point with all of them is the network issues. They just stop streaming in the middle.

Please let me know if you have identified a good one.

I have started using AntennaPod and it's slowly growing on me.
The problem you mentioned stream getting dropped is strange one. I don't face it. Can you elaborate further please?

I have started moving to Youtube music. I was able to export my subscriptions from Google Podcasts to Youtube music directly. So, far the experience has been good, and similar to Google podcasts, in terms of adding podcasts to the queue, moving them around in the queue etc.

It just loses connection with the server and doesn't connect for a few minutes even after multiple attempts. Sometimes have to force stop the app and restart.

It's not the network, since at the same time YouTube videos play without any issues.

His podcasts depend mainly on the guest invited on the podcast. A lot of his episodes are on very different topics - e.g. Krish Ashok's food (book) and so on.

Currently waiting to hear the latest on Ram Gopal Verma's (making of) Satya movie and how it changed the Bollywood scene.
Could not have agreed more It's the best podcast coming out of India, and by a mile! The guests almost always offer insights that add to our understanding of the world. It's also mind boggling how Amit Varma's frameworks seem to hold the test of time.

If I may suggest one, Amit Varma has teamed up with Ajay Shah to produce an equally marvelous series on current events and socio-economic concepts. Listening to these is the equivalent of learning from any great institution and is bound to challenge pre-conceived notions about so much around us. It is (aptly) called Everything is Everything:
