The Podcast Thread

Searched for a thread for podcasts listeners and I was surprised to fine none.

So thought I'd start one, mod's please modify as you see fit.

Here's a list of my favorites;

1. Freakonomics Radio:

If you've read the book, you'd know why I'd suggest this.

This podcast goes on to give you an entertaining perspective on all things related to finance and the economic impact of even unsuspecting things might have on the same.

2. Hidden Brain:

This is hosted by Shankar Vedhantham, he goes on to give you insights on different ways the psyche works.

3. Casefile:

The voice! Man! I just keep coming back!

The podcast goes into the details of prominent cases of the past, helps me to be more alert as I live alone, plus you'd be surprised by the number of ways you could end up killed or worse, I double check my locks every night thanks to Casefile.

4. Adventure Rider Radio:

Unarguably the best motorcycling related podcast around.

5. Dr. Death:

Case of Dr. Christopher Duntsch, would make you doubt every doctor you come across, if you didn't already catch on he's the infamous Dr. Death.

I use Pocket Casts for my daily dose of podcast listening, do share your favorites and also do suggest more convenient ways of listening to podcasts if you know better.

Cheers,
A.P.

Re: The Podcast Thread

1. Car Talk - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Car_Talk

If you guys have not yet listened to car talk, then it is a must. They have a never-ending selection of callers and the way they diagnose the problems in the car just by making the caller make car sounds is just amazing. You can always learn something new. Even the old calls are a treasure trove and re-runs are not boring. OH! And don't miss the credits at the ending.

2. AvTalk - https://www.flightradar24.com/blog/category/avtalk/

Aviation podcase for the aviation enthusiasts, good quality and mostly talks about current happenings in and around aviation.

You can get both of these in any of your favourite podcast apps.

Re: The Podcast Thread

NPR radio https://www.npr.org/

I am listening to it for quite some time now. Topics vary in genre. It also has a section for TED talks and interviews with their authors.

Attention Pliss! https://anchor.fm/appodcast

This is a new one. Arnab Ray, witty & satirical author of the famous Blog - Greatbong.net, has started this a few months back.

Re: The Podcast Thread

Any inputs on what are the good business and/or legal podcasts which are relevant to the Indian context? Suggestions would be welcome.

I am not an avid listener of podcasts (yet), but would like to start paying more attention to them. A good way to add value to ones free time, though the podcasts in question need to be relevant.

IVM is a great place to find podacsts for a vide variety of genres. And yes , they have a podcast for legal matters too, called 'Know Your Kanoon". Here's a list of their shows .

I personally quite like Puliyabaazi and The Seen and The Unseen. I also have heard The Pragati Podcast on IVM and found it to be quite informative.

Cheers !

Re: The Podcast Thread

Is there anyone here who hosts a podcast? I was thinking about starting a podcast as a hobby. I'm trying t gather as much info as possible, so interacting with someone who has a podcast would be helpful.

Re: The Podcast Thread

I came across Evo India's "Thrill of Driving" podcasts. They have interviews with well known professionals of Indian origin who have made a mark in the automotive field. Likes of Pratap Bose, Karun Chandhok, etc. Very interesting.

Have been listening to it since last year. The two presenters really take the podcast to a different level. Some of the crimes they cover are bone chilling, but they dissect them without going much into gory details. It's not everyones cup of tea. This is strongly recommended only for true crime fans.

Other reccos:
  • Arseblog Arsecast - For an Arsenal fan, this is an absolute must listen. Arseblogger and Gunnerblog's analysis is top class and their comic sense is immaculate.
  • Travel with Rick Steves - Covers travel destinations (many offbeat) like no other, from every perspective. He literally baby-walks you through the place.
  • The Documentary Podcast - Current affairs dissected brilliantly. It's a BBC channel.
  • The Fred and Ross West Tapes - If you have heard of the infamous West's of Gloucestershire and are hooked to the case, then this podcast has some never-before tapes.
