Five moths of
no protection for something that
might be better?
Anyway, goodness knows how many variants, new pandemic infections, etc, we're going to be getting vaccinated against in the future this is just the start :Shockked:

Thanks that's a good lead. I will call tomorrow.

I believe a 3rd dose is possible at a later stage. No point keeping yourself open to risk of infection so long. In fact there was argument that switching vaccines may help widen the scope of protection granted. But wait for official reports and recommendations after the new vaccine is launched.

Dr. Vivek here. Just wanted to say that there is no such recommendation to stop any sort of steroid or chemo drugs for the sake of Covid-19 vaccination. I don't think so you should stop it, unless your Rheumatologist has explicitly advised the same for some other reason ?? I was on steroids as well ( 20mg ) for my allergic bronchitis when I took first shot of the Covishield vaccine, absolutely no post vaccine pyrexia or myalgia by God's grace. You may experience these at the most for 1-2 days which will then subside.
Registration is now open for all those who are 45+ without co-morbidities.
I could register for my wife and I just now through the Aarogya Setu app. Took all of 2 minutes for registration and then, scheduling. I’m taking my 1st jab on 3rd April and my wife gets hers on 1st April.
Fingered crossed!

Has anyone here managed to download the vaccine certificate on Digilocker? I don't see any option for it. Just hitting refresh on issued document didn't do the trick.
Which department I need to pick to enter the beneficiary number?
I got my first jab two days ago, and I have no issues so far. My wife had slight fever (99C), and started taking Dolo 650, and now she is normal.

Yes.
Oh home page of the Digilocker app, select Central Government -> Ministry of Health -> Covid vaccine certificate.

Step 1.
For getting the beneficiary id.
1. Download Arogya setu and login with the mobile number you gave at time of registration.
2. After login, select the cowin option on top right corner.
3. Make sure you login with the mobile number given at time of registration.
4. After you login with your registered mobile number, you can see all the persons (upto 4) linked to your mobile number.
5. Select the person whose beneficiary id you need.
6. All details of the said person can be visualised from the list including the beneficiary id.
7. Make note of this beneficiary id number.
Step 2.
For downloading vaccination certificate on digilocker.
1. Select the central government departments.
2. At the bottom is the Health & Family Welfare department.
3. There is only one option when you select this department. And that will lead to download vaccination completion certificate.
4. Enter the beneficiary id and your system will automatically lead you further to download link.
P.S. if you have your beneficiary id, proceed directly to step 2

If you still have not been able to find a center near by you, then you could check on the cowin.gov.in website.

I will update after a couple of days if there are any side effects. |
We took the shots on Saturday morning, and were fine till the evening. Then around 7 pm I noticed a mild heaviness around my temples. My wife started having a headache around that time, and by 8.30 pm she had a sudden and sharp fever. Didn't check the temperature but it felt about 101 to my hand. I gave her a Dolo tablet and sent her to bed. I went to bed around 11 pm and didn't feel anything significant. I did not switch on the Ac and had only the ceiling fan running because of her fever.
But for some reason I felt sleepless and dozed off in fits and starts the entire night. I also felt the need to urinate four times that night. First I got up at midnight and felt a chill, felt the ceiling fan was running too fast and breezy! I reduced the speed a bit, wore a T shirt over my vest and went back to bed. My wife was sleeping and her fever seemed to have abated.
I got up once again around 3 AM and this time felt very sultry, and felt sweat around my neck and shoulders. I removed the T shirt, increased the fan speed and went back to bed. There was some pain around the injection site whenever I moved the arm. The mild heaviness in the temples continued till morning.
By the next morning I was back to normal except for the mild arm pain. My wife's fever returned in a mild form and she still had a headache and felt very tired. I told her to rest and ordered for food delivery. Gave her another Dolo around 10 AM. She slept soundly for a couple of hours in the afternoon and felt good after waking up. Fever and headache were gone, but tiredness and arm pain remained. This morning she has gone to work, though she still feels a bit tired.
My father, aged 67, got jabbed with 1st dose of Covaxin on 26th March. He walked-in directly to the nearby SRM Medical College hospital in Kattankulathur and came back in 1.5 hrs. He had no fever or any other side effects and is perfectly normal. The charge was 250 for the 1st dose and he was asked to come back after 28 days for the second dose.
For folks who insist on Covaxin and if you are nearby GST, you can walk-in to SRM hospital, Kattankulathur, as they were one of the test centers earlier for the initial trials of Covaxin.

Wow! A top-tier hospital like Manipal has a broken appointment booking system where both the toll-free and local Direct line is left unstaffed and callers are kept hanging on listening to dumb music for up to 5 mins at a time.
I booked an appointment for Banaswadi Govt. UPHC as it looks like none of the private hospitals are pushing Covaxin - likely that they all are getting commission or extra margins from AstraZeneca to push only Covidshield. I will go on-site to the UPHC on the day of appointment and ask if they are administering Covaxin else cancel my appointment and look elsewhere. Absolutely none of the Govt UPHC centers I checked have a telephone number listed on Google, so I cant call and check in advance...
Ok, after half a dozen chain calls to National Covid helpline and multiple redirects I finally reached BBMP Mahadevpura zonal office who gave me a number for a BBMP health officer. He told me none of the UPHC in Mahadevpura have Covaxin stock but Manipal Old airport has them. So I promptly cancelled my scheduled appointment at the govt UPHC and selected the pincode for Manipal Hospital Old airport Rd, and the Arogya Setu/CoWin app showed me Manipal as the only choice. To my satisfaction the drop-down for Manipal reads "Manipal Covaxin" clearly indicating upfront what customers can expect. The earliest date I found was 14th April but hey after a year of lockdowns its less than 2 weeks away! Meaning I can vacation and travel international at possibly low prices the second half of the year... Meheheheh! :D
I had scheduled through the Aarogya Setu app for forenoon tomorrow, 1st April. I got the sms confirmation when I registered and scheduled. Suddenly, this evening I get an SMS that the appointment for tomorrow is cancelled and no reasons given.
I’m going to try and schedule at a different hospital. Fingers crossed.
For those preferring Covaxin, what is advantages you see with Covaxin. Or is it just a personal choice.
For availability wise, covaxin is definitely less available.
