Hi, how was your registration carried out in the system? As of now, the App is not allowing anyone with birth year greater than 1976 to be registered? Or is it that your birth year is 1976 but your age is 44 years and few months?

I do dog rescues / feed strays on a fairly regular basis. I mentioned that, they didn't check anything like ID and just entered "public service".

They are vaccinating eg maidservants, swiggy delivery boys, apartment watchmen etc as well regardless of their age.

I was searching for vaccination center on google maps but it seems to be highly inaccurate. For example Specialist hospital which does the vaccinations is not marked and I see only two hospitals around HRBR/HBR layout in Bangalore. Then I started looking for Bangalore Government website to plot the locations by map but I cant seem to find any map with nearest hospitals plotted just the list of Hospital names - not even their location is mentioned in the list (for ex: Indira Nagar, or JayaNagar etc) so it is very hard to find out without doing an individual search per name for 100s of hospitals and manually narrowing down the ones near where I live. Did I miss something in my search? Or is it the case that nobody has thought about charting this information for general public to locate the nearest vaccine center till now?

Yes, they should have provided the location at least. But luckily, the number of hospitals does not run in 100's. Just Page 2 of the list, and even there not all on that page are Bangalore based.

Dad (64Y) and Mom (62Y) took first shot of Covishield 2 days back. Dad is diabetic and is on maintenance dosage for neuro issue . Mom is diabetic and on maintenance dosage of anti depressants-slightly on the fragile side of health.

Anyways, coming to vaccine, no symptoms for dad. Mom got fever and felt a little cold after 12 hours of vaccine. Body aches and pain at the injection site followed. Ice packs on the injection site helped a lot and pain went away after 1 day. Bodyaches and fever went after a day and a half after taking paracetamol. She is feeling slight weakness, should be fine in another day or so.

The arrangement at vaccination site were commendable though. Fingers crossed for the second dosage which may get a little postponed basis the talks of 4 week interval now turning to 6-8 weeks interval.

Interval for Covishield is 6-8 weeks, and for Covaxin it is 4 weeks.

Looking at the issues with vaccines, looks like mismanagement continues. EU and UK have issues with each other. Poor nations are not getting any supply.

Even in India I think looking at the total number vaccinated, its slow. Now you have mutations increasing and might yet get out of control. SII before vaccines were approved said they could manufacture 100s of million per month. They are far cry away from that. Bharat Biotech also said it could manufacture millions. Not sure but Russia could play the saviour !

Only US is doing it smoothly without any issues and UK has also covered a major chunk of their population. All my friends in US have had theirs for free. You can even choose among the 3 vaccines.

My parents took the first dose few days ago. My father (70, history of angioplasty) showed no symptoms at all. My mother (65, diabetic and blood pressure) had weakness and pain in hand for a day.

My mother took her vaccine today at King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research - Guindy, Chennai. The process was seamless. We were at the venue by 8:30 am. They opened the centre at 9 am and we were out by 10 am.

All went well except the experience with the front desk staff who were posted to issue registration forms and handle the senior citizen's queries and concerns. While my mother was inside the centre, I had to wait outside and I couldn't help but notice the indifferent attitude of the staff to the people who were coming in. The staff handling the pre-medical screening and vaccines were good as per my mother.

Post 9:30 am, the number of people coming in, went up exponentially. So please go early to avoid crowd. The place has ample car and bike parking.

And if you are wondering which vaccine did she get, it was Covaxin. The centre had both vaccines in stock.

My wife and I walked in to GH, Chromepet and took the Covishiled jab this morning. Since she is 56 and hypertensive, other hospitals were asking for doctor certificate. I am 60 and hypertensive too, but no certificate required for me in the same hospitals!

Takes about 90 minutes for the whole process from entry to exit. They are asking about existing conditions (Bp,Diabetes etc) and note down for their records, but are vaccinating 45+ people even if no such conditions exist.

Fairly decent for a government run facility, but nothing great. The vaccine turnover is fast, they are taking people in batches sufficient for one vial, finish it then call the next batch.

The second dose is now pushed back to eight weeks as per government directive. I will update after a couple of days if there are any side effects.

I called at least 6 pvt hospitals and they are all giving CovidShield only. Anyone in Bangalore who has got Covaxin shot? Which hospital?

^^ Don't be too particular. Take any available shot. My guess is in about 8-9 months we all may need a booster. At that time some more vaccines will be available and we can choose.

I went to have Covaxin, yesterday from a Hospital in Kottivakkam in Chennai, wherein my Brother had taken the same vaccine the previous day and was not having any side effects (probably due to his regular yearly vaccination for flu). Morning at 9 O'clock when checked at the hospital over phone, it was confirmed that Covaxin was available. After registering at the hospital while waiting, it was informed to us that only Covishield was available and the stock of Covaxin had not arrived for them that day.

Hospital authorities checked with the nearby Hospitals but can't do anything. They said they are likely to have the stock back on coming Monday / Tuesday. So I returned back without having vaccination. After that I enquired with another hospital in Kilpauk for Covaxin, and they also informed Covaxin is not in stock with them and they will probably get that in the next 3 or 4 days.

So I will probably try next week. The issue for me is since I am a Rheumatoid Arthritis patient for about 20 years and in a mild steroid dose daily (prednisolone 5mg) for the last few years, I want to stop that for atleast 2 days prior to vaccination.

Manipal Hospital on Old Airport Road gave an option to my Aunt last week to choose between Covishield and Covaxin.

Covovax, which is supposed to protect from the newly raging Covid variants will only be available by September, 2021. Should I get that once-and-for-all?
