With many IT companies vaccinating staff and the families, will they open offices in September,? People cannot give excuses of risk for family either since all are vaccinated?
Will they allow WFH for folks who decide not to vaccinate?

Depends upon the company. Companies like Bosch confirmed their employees that WFH will continue throughout 2021 regardless of vaccination status. But I don't see any reason to bring employees into office if work is not interrupted from WFH!
Vaccination Update:
Get vaccinated for the whole family(Myself, Wife & Parents). Covishield! Except my wife everyone else have slight pain in the arm. And except myself, no one else has the feverish sensation.
An update after the First dose:
I am unable to edit the original post about my vaccination experience here :
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/shift...ml#post5073862
Hence adding the update here, mods please merge if possible.
I got the jab at around 10 am in the morning, I started getting slight pain in the arm around evening. My wife too had started feeling some pain.
Day 0: Around 10 pm I started getting mild fever. Wife was not feverish. I took a paracetamol and slept off. Around midnight 1 am my body was burning with high fever and shivers. Endured it for a while, then probably tablet started kicking in, around 2 am temperature had reduced. I got some shut eye till morning. Had early breakfast, took another tablet and slept again as there was still some fever. My wife did not get fever all this while.
Day 1: Completely recovered next day around evening, except for some weakness and slight body pain.
At the time of this writing I am back to normal.:Cheering:
After umpteen no. of tries my parents managed to get the 2nd dose of Covishield today. It was almost like a fastest finger contest, with most of the slots going off within minutes. Our neighbour finally managed to get a slot booked yesterday evening and they got the jab this morning.

My advice would be to reach out to the Hospital/Health Centre at which the other couple have got themselves vaccinated and let them know. Possibly a goof up at the hospital's end. |
The unfortunate part is the health center is in a small village in Karnataka and google doesn’t have any phone number for that center. There is one number which, when we call, we get a message saying number doesn’t exist.
My wife and I received our first dose of the COVID Vaccination earlier today at our apartment society organised by Manipal Hospitals, Bangalore. Our society association seemed to have planned and organised this very well, especially considering that our society is quite large, with more than 1200 apartments. And I believe nearly 800-1000 people signed for the vaccination drive. Surprisingly, higher number of people opted for Covaxin than Covishield, including my wife and I.
It’s been about 2 hours post the vaccine, slight heaviness in my arm, took Dolo as a precaution post the vaccination.
Also to note that I had been infected by COVID back to back within 45 days between February and April this year. Both the times were quite mild. Different recommendations from different people on the gap between infection and vaccination, but since I’m due to return to office by end of June, I didn’t want to take a risk. Also a gap of 4-6 weeks seemed to recommended by many, so went ahead with a 6 week gap.
My wife and I took vaccine on Friday, 4 June afternoon. It was organized by my employer and experience was very smooth. We had to reach office at the given time slot with aadhaar and Co-WIN code. I never received OTP using Co-WIN mobile app but could use Co-WIN with web browser.
We have given preference for Covaxin. It seems more number of people opted for Covishield or people who did not give preference got Covishield as default. When we reached, there was some problem with Covishield registration servers and we got expedited registration for Covaxin. After vaccination we were told to wait for 10 minutes only.
Except little pain near the vaccine administered area, both of us did not face any other issue until now.
I got my 1st dose of Covishield at Symbiosis University Hospital in Lavale, Pune this morning.
I was prepared for the worst because a neighbour had his first dose there a month ago, and told me there was complete and utter chaos. No social distancing, the time slots were more or less meaningless and there were no clear instructions on how to proceed - both with the paperwork and with how to physically proceed through the hospital from station to station. He had a 0900-1000 slot and finally got his shot at 1730.
I am pleased to report that they have got their act together. There were plenty of people marshalling cars to the designated parking area, and I was asked about my time slot at the gate. I presume I would have been turned away if I had come too early.
Every step of the process was well managed, clearly sign-posted and explained in detail before each group was allowed to begin entering the hospital.
Of course, when they called for token numbers 1 to 10, about 25 people got up, but the staff only let 1 to 10 go through, and ignored the entitled protests and whinging of the queue-jumpers.
From switching off my car's engine to starting it again took just over 90 minutes.
As for side-effects, I am experiencing chills, mild bodyache and a fever of 102 F. This seems to be completely normal for people in my age group (I'm 37M) so I'm not at all worried. I'm actually still feeling pleasantly surprised at how well managed the whole affair was.

"As states step up chorus, Centre ‘willing’ to rethink, take over vaccine procurement"
Must say, when the 'decentralized' vaccine procurement strategy was announced, I was one among those who thought it was a great move. I expected private players/individual states to come in strong and get doses directly from manufacturers, freeing up the subsidized/free vaccine doses at government facilities for those who really needed it. Expected the 'demand/supply' economics to make things more efficient.
I was wrong. Didn't expect vaccine manufacturers to refuse to deal with the states (forget smaller private entities). A few members here called it correctly though- it just exacerbated an already bad supply situation because of shortages. And now I see that you guys were right, private suppliers are indeed cornering whatever limited supply is available and making it available to privileged people like us. (

Seems like there is a surplus of supply of vaccines in Chennai, for 18-44 age category, based on what I see in Cowin for the past 5 days. Most of the slots in Private hospitals remain active for more than 24 hours and some of them even go un-booked.
Is it due to the reason of Private hospitals getting more direct procurement from the manufacturers than the states themselves or due to the real vaccine hesitancy among the population (referring to my wife, who is yet to get vaccinated because none of her friends and their families are vaccinated yet :Frustrati).
However, what I noticed is almost all of the open slots are Covishield whereas Covaxin is still in demand as it gets over within a minute in most of the hospitals. Also, the 2nd dose of Covaxin is in more demand now and some of the hospitals are opening the 2nd dose slots alone. Luckily, I got a slot today evening for my 2nd dose Covaxin in a nearby hospital.
And add to that, almost all the IT companies in the OMR IT corridor have started vaccination drives in tie-up with these private hospitals, including my employer, and these employees mostly prefer these vaccination drives than the direct private hospitals.

Yes.
https://indianexpress.com/article/in...cases-7344769/ And they're supplying them to the IT company vaccine drives.

Not about demand, it's because of a shortage.

Successfully got both my vaccine doses in a span of 4 weeks.
During both instances, the telegram group alerts helped immensely.
Dose 1 booking - All through the week, I used to miss the telegram alerts and by the time I notice it and visit CoWin, the slots would have been exhausted. And then it was a casual Friday late evening with family in the terrace and the telegram app out of nowhere pinged an alert. Apollo - Greams Road had made an impromptu opening of Covaxin slots for the following Sunday. Immediately went to CoWin portal and registered successfully.
Dose 2 booking - By now all trends were identified and it was pretty clear which hospital opens bookings at what time of the day and approximately how many vaccines slots they open with. I knew Apollo - Greams Road would open slots for the following day between 8 - 8:15 am and stayed with the laptop. Telegram notified me at 8 am about the slot opening and availability - 200 nos for dose 2. But CoWin was not showing the slots. It took a good two-three minutes before the slot availability displayed on CoWin portal. Again managed to book my slots comfortably.
During both instances, my wife and I were at the hospital at 8:30 am. Going early really helped in getting the work done faster and also finding a good spot for the car. We were out in less than 60 mins.
Both of us had no side effects and were comfortable.
Telegram app, smart phone, and high speed broadband is unfortunately a requirement to avail this life saving vaccine. So if you have the bandwidth, please help in booking appointments for the ones around you who do not have access to the gadgets or is not tech savvy.
So here in Gurgaon, it seems we are vaccine surplus now. One can login to Cowin anytime and get a slot.
Covishield flooding the market and vaccine hesitancy seems to have restored the demand-supply balance.
Added later: I got my Covishield first jab last week. Considering the surplus, I am now waiting for the government to reduce the interval of second jab to 8 weeks or lesser :)
Had a vaccine drive in my apartment. House keeping staff and maids were provided vaccine free of cost. Some staff told they will not take vaccine and their parents have told them they will die on taking vaccine. Had to issue stern warning and threat of expulsion from job to make them fall in line.
This is exactly the reason why we are seeing vaccine surplus situation now.
Out side cities this is the state of affairs. Govt will have to do strong arm tactics to get desired results. Else 3rd, 4th and more waves will keep coming.

The article quoted that the private hospitals have acquired only 15.6% of the eligible 25% and even with this percentage, there are surplus supply in private hospitals.

The article quotes for Delhi, whereas here in Chennai still there are lot of slots opens up for 1st dose Covaxin in the private hospitals and get gobbled up within few minutes. Only in the past 2-3 days, I noticed these hospitals have started to open slots for 2nd dose Covaxin and there could be more demand in upcoming days as lot of people who got the 1st dose of Covaxin will become eligible.
