A walk around my neighbourhood led me to discover that at least 50% of all cars have something or the other dangling from, or tied to, the internal rear view mirror (IRVM). It can some religious symbol (commonest), some kind of toy or decorative item, a car perfume, or an identity tag.

I am sure members here also accessorize and decorate their IRVMs in a similar manner, and I would request you to post pictures of the same, with a description of why you have it, and whether or not it distracts you while driving.

Absolutely nothing at all. Actually, never had anything hanging on the IRVM in any of my cars.

Thread moved out from the Assembly Line. Thanks for sharing!

Absolutely nothing on my IRVMs :thumbs up. In fact, I'm a stickler for keeping my car cabins neat & tidy. You will rarely find anything at all in the entire cabin, except for a hand sanitizer in one cupholder (from March '20 onward). All other areas are totally empty with no loose items or stick-ons. Even door pockets are emptied of all unnecessary stuff at the end of the drive.

This is how the cabin of all my cars looks. Clean with zero clutter. Ever since I quit smoking, there's no air freshener either (LHS door pocket in this old pic):

Nothing at all. I am one of those who removes even the Service done tag as soon as I collect my car.

In my car, none of the sun visors are folded down too because such things are too much of a distraction to me.

Needless to stay, minimalistic stickers (apartment/office parking) on the windscreen too.

I hang absolutely nothing on the mirror and never will.

If something's hanged from the mirror, it is going to be a distraction for me while driving.

I don’t hang anything on the IRVM either. Prefer minimal distractions. So stickers, dashcam everything is on the co-driver side. The Fastag sticker is obscured by the IRVM itself.

+1 to above two posts.

Absolutely nothing hanging on my IRVM. Absolutely nothing on the dashboard. Absolutely minimum mandatory stickers and FastTag on the windshield. Nothing in my field of view. Even the FastTag is carefully placed so that it is hidden behind the IRVM from the driving seat view.

I hate distracting objects in the field of view, and I even hate the distracting reflections in the windshield. In fact, my OCD for NOT having anything hanging from the IRVM is so bad that when I see something handing in other cars (e.g. a taxi I take), it still annoys me, although I try to ignore it and be polite and not say anything to the driver/owner of that car.

This is my car. Clean and simple:

I would like it to be "Nothing", but currently I have the dashcam cable from the console power point going up, looping around the IRVM and connecting to the camera suction-mounted to the left of it.

Earlier, when my apartment first implemented parking stickers, I refused to paste it on my windshield; instead punched a hole on it and used a thread to hang it from the IRVM. Once the security team familiarised themselves with my vehicle I removed that.

I have this too. But one that tops my list is the way people hang their phones in the center of windscreen and wires dangling out of it to the center console.

Next comes those enthusiasts who buy Dashcam but do a lousy installation that the charging cable is again hanging right on the windscreen dangling all the way to the gear lever area. How on earth can anyone drive with this :Frustrati. In my case, I used to regularly use Mobile phone holder but I have been lucky to have quarter panel glass of driver side door in both my cars till now (Your SX4 too has) where I would attach the holder. Now that I have installed a Head unit with Android auto, even that (Holder) isn't of much use.

I have had cases where co-passengers (my family never does), pull down the sun visor and I politely request them to fold it back in it's position. An opened sun visor to me is a huge block for my vision and judgement (also due to my height).

Also, My dashcam is mounted right behind the IRVM and so is the Fastag to cause no distractions/obstructions.

Heck, I am still one of those who will not prefer 3 in the second row because the center passenger's head will block my vision on the IRVM lol:.

Absolutely nothing.

I prefer a clean and unobstructed view of the road as far as possible. As others have mentioned, Fastag remains neatly hidden behind the IRVM. Two mandatory stickers remain in one corner of the passenger side.

Edit:
My previous WagonR had a clean windshield and IRVM too. I needed my phone for navigation and hence, had to get a phone holder. But Paragsachania mentioned, this holder was neatly mounted on the quarter panel glass. A quick glance to the right side gave me the route instructions and/or ORVM view. :)

Cabbies in Bangalore love this "flying Hanuman": lol:

Ouch. That hurts. :crying

Back in the days of our Maruti 800 (1999 - 2004), we had a small soft toy (a tiger) hanging from the IRVM. No direct pictures of it anymore, but is seen in this cropped exterior shot.

Cars since then (WagonR, Punto and Xcent) all had a clean, distraction-free IRVM always.

Absolutely nothing in my cars; not only are they a distraction, they could be potentially dangerous in the event of a crash. Same reason why I have nothing on the dashboard either.
