I am waiting for the review VK.
This has got to be the WORST movie I have ever had to sit through the worst part is a couple of friends who were with me were completely hooked and actually stated crying on some scenes, never before I have felt compelled to actually get up from my seat and pelt stones on the screen!! Horrible!!!!

Now for some good cinema;

1. Contact- All time fav, based on a book written by Carl Sagan. Must watch.

2. Millers Crossing - A superb subtle gangster movie about 2 close friends.

3. Revolver - Jason Statman from (Lock stocks and 2 smoking barrels) gives a superb performance in a movie about "The Game" I have never seen anything like it on the subject.

4. Das Boot - Arguable the BEST war movie ever made, WWII.

Will chime in with more later.

Millers Crossing is an EXCELLENT movie! Among my favourites. Perhaps the best Coen Brothers movie ever. This is the movie that comes to my mind every time Gabriel Byrne's name comes up (no, it's not even The Usual Suspects). Now I have to see it again today

I did not like Revolver much. Probably because it is not the typical Guy Ritchie movie (which I expected) and Statham is not typically "himself".

Das Boot is also among my favourite movies. I have the 3-and-a-half-hour Director's cut and have watched it at least 5 times. I've never been bored watching it, and each time I see something new. My Dad hates watching movies that are longer than 2 hours, but even he didn't know how fast the movie went by when he saw it first. With so many characters, it is a complex movie (with a very simple storyline). But every one of those characters have been built sooooo beautifully. We know exactly how each character thinks, we can predict what each guy will do if faced with a particular situation etc. I'd rate this movie up there with the Seven Samurai when we think of movies with the greatest character development.

Contact is a good movie but I think Jodie Foster was like a slab of ice, with no emotions.

Running Scared - Paul Walker. Amazing action-thriller. IMO, a must watch!

The Listening - A nice movie about Govt. sanctioned electronic eavesdropping.

Absolutely! but the good part of watching this movie is every time theres something new to understand.

Some other movies;

Hero - Superb cinematography, colors and a brilliant plot!

Blow - Just saw it again last night, must watch!!

Run Lola Run - Permutations and Combinations somehow not many people have liked it!

Some of the more recent one's

Talk to me - The story of Washington D.C. radio personality Ralph "Petey" Greene, an ex-con who became a popular talk show host and community activist in the 1960s (Great Movie!!)

Death at a Funeral - I saw some one else also mention it, a great watch well made comedy!

Crank - Arguably Statham at his best, no serious plot but just a CRAZY pace at which things are moving quite mindless nevertheless very entertaining!

In Hindi Cinema;

Jane bhi do yaaro - CLASSIC!!! TIMELESS

Jaagte Raho - Raj Kapoor showing the city how it is, Mumbai hasn't changed much according to me one of the greatest artist's to grace bollywood, makes movies from the recent past like garbage. Sorry but I truly have a very low opinion of bollywood, they cant think of a good script to save their lives of course there are exceptions but the overall product line is for crap.

Regards,

Satyam.

Saw Strangers - Kay Kay & Jimmy starrer for those who do not know.

Simply went because TOI gave it 3 stars.

Dumb flick really. Not worth watching at all.

My verdict = */5 !!!

Saw 'I Am Legend', to me a very slow and boring film, I felt nothing happened right until the end and even then, I thought; was it worth it!
Reminded me of the film 'Signs'.
1.5*'s

Same here. Went because of Rediff and TOI giving three stars each. But a movie with poor direction and worse editing.

Saw two movies. I AM A LEGEND. and Thirty Days of Night.

I wouldnt mind watching IAM a legend again. Love the GT500 in red looks simply awesome. Even the explorer in MAtte Black was it.. Both the movies have the same concept though. Mutans. But i guess LEGEND's 3d guys worked better at it.

IAM A LEGEND 3/5
30days of night 1/5

watched the ISLAND. Movie is about cloning and a person who creates clones for the replacement of body parts. Movies is ok and a one time watch. The story wasnt gr8 but the best part were the cars. God they sounded too good. All typical american muscle sounds. Btw there is this vehicle which is like a jet bike which can fly. It rocked. Overall i give it 2/5. execution of the story could have been better

You said so much, but you did not say a word about Scarlett Johansson? I'd have started with her. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I didn't like the movie that much either. But SJ made it all worth it.
