Dubai Deira City center is a good place to start with.
I have only been there once and i picked an I-phone for my B-law.
It was pretty cheap compared to the situation in Abudhabi...
Coz they are asking twice the price for I-phone here...

Well Mall of the Emirates, and Dragon MArt (Chinese place) aint that bad either....

U shud have been here during Gitex, they were selling everything at almost cost price...

www.souk.com is a site like e-bay... its cool...

Good luck....

Hey guys,

Is car audio equipment cheaper in Dubai ? Is it worth getting it from there paying a lesser price and losing out on warranty ? Or is the price difference so less that it is better I get it from Indian itself ?

Vintage,

That's a long list, very informative.

Thinking of planning a 6 day trip with family during this Diwali. Other than the shopping etc., we're keen on the Desert 4X4 trip and the safari. We have friends there with whom we can stay, so we're thinking using that money on something interesting, something like:
  • Hiring a self-drive SUV, possible there with an international driving licence? I checked out some sites, they quote rentals for a Prado, Pajero etc., 3 days about $ 350, don't know if this is OK?
  • What are the places one can drive to from Dubai? If self-driving is not possible, then would it make sense to travel by a taxi or fly? We would prefer surface by taxi, so as to see things properly.
Jesal,

How was your desert sarafi and what all did you see.

Information from all Dubai / UAE experts would be very useful. Thanks,

--Ramky

A friend of mine is flying down from Dubai soon. I have asked him to get a HU for me. I am specifically looking at these 2 models:
1. Clarion DXZ 785 USB (also called 776 or 786 depending on the region)
2. Eclipse 5030 (if this is n/a, then 3200)

Can UAE guys suggest which all areas to scout for? If you guys can help with approximate prices, that would be great!

A good place to find Clarion or Eclipse Head Unit would be Sharaf DG in Times Square, Dubai. Please note that you ask the sales man about the Car Audion Section were you could find Eclipse, Clarion etc.
