Exactly. I was surprised looking at the cup and saucer. Even our housemaid get a better quality and more importantly clean cup.

There are two locations that show up on GMaps

Are both branches?

Shop Location

This is the real one, the one on 80ft road, i haven't tried it and I don't think it is a branch.

Fraser Town (Mosque Road -MM Road) is currently hosting a Ramadan food festival where non-vegetarian enthusiasts can come and savour the delicacies. Despite the steep prices in comparison to regular times, the atmosphere was bustling and lively, as evidenced by the huge turnout last weekend.

Saw news that police and BBMP officials were closing off this mela due to complaints from the local residents against the traffic mess as well as the food mess in the area.

Another great place is Chikkaveeranna Sweets in Vijayapura Town.

I haven't tried this place but it reminded me of another place outside Bangalore that serves very good Mysore Pak - Venkateshwara sweet stall in Kolar. A friend who is a Kolar native took me to this store once and it was really good and served hot on a small plantain leaf.

Indeed during Ramadan season, weekends and evenings can be quite chaotic in Fraser Town, causing traffic and parking issues for its residents. I concur that it would be preferable to relocate such events to larger open spaces with adequate parking facilities. However, it seems that Bangalore lacks such areas nowadays, maybe Palace Grounds may be an option.

I wouldn't recommend travelling to Vijayapura just for the Mysore pak but if you are in the vicinity, this store is a must have. It is one of those legendary sweet stores. They are also famous for Badam halwa, Avalakki mixture, etc. You can get a sense of this place from Kripal Amannas vlog link here

Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma visited CTR at Malleshwaram.

Folks, any recommendations near Gottigere/Bannerghatta Road for:
1. Breakfast - any decent south indian Darshini ?
2. Lunch - any decent North Indian/Multi-cuisine Veg places ?

*I'm totally unfamiliar with the area and surroundings.

Try the below ones for breakfast. Both are close to Nice road entrance on bannerghatta road.

1. Udupi Upahara. Its ~1km from the nice road entrance.

2. Godavari Cafe. Its around 2 kms from the nice road entrance.

for lunch there is Platform 65 (train themed restaurant) on the main road beyond. If not there are few options in and around the Royal Meenakshi mall.

For breakfast you can consider Jagli Tindi, they have some Mangalore dishes as well.

Couple of weeks back, we were looking for a good place to eat around JP Nagar. Since it was an impromptu unplanned idea we thought of going to a pizza place (Dominos, Pizza hut) but looking at the menu it was not enticing. Then we thought of searching for any asian restaurant nearby and found one which has good reviews and was nearby.

It was the Shanghai Court. The place is on the RBI layout main road and is opp to Elita Promenade apartments. It is a small one (has around 7-8 tables) but the place was packed. We luckily got a table but people who came in after us had to wait for a bit to get table.

What we ordered:

Starters : Veg steam momos, Paneer Chilly, Dragon Rolls
Soup : Tom Yam Phak
Main course : Veg Koithio, Thai chilli garlic noodles, Por Pia Sai Pak

We all agreed that the food was excellent esp the soup. Only average one was the Veg Koithio but rest all were good.

Ambience : Nothing much to write about. Simple and works.
Price : Not too high. I would say its average ($$)

Only downer was the wait time for the food. It took quite a long time for the starters to come and then another small wait time for the main course to be served. I guess it was to do with the restaurant being full. But I was ok with that as the food quality more than made up for that. Overall I would rate it as 4/5

P.S : We are vegetarians so all of the above food were veg.

Thanks for your suggestions above!

After a trek and walk around the Champakadhama swamy temple, we were heading to Udupi upahara for breakfast when we saw a Kerala style restaurant called Ruchikootu just before Udupi upahara, and decided to try it. We were bored of the usual idly, Vada, Pongal, dosa, poori stuff, but given this was a veg & non-veg place, we were unsure.

However, though the service was a bit slow, the Appam, Idiyappam, Kerala Porotta, Puttu were all good and we ordered Kadala curry (brown channa), Green Peas masala (was more like veg kurma) and Egg masala (was a bit sweet due to added sugar!). Overall, wasn't a disappointment. I heard that the place gets very crowded on Sundays.

The chaya (Chai/Tea) was good and I even had the Kattan Chaya (black tea) which was good as well.

Wanted to visit the Herbs and medicinal plants nursery at GKVK which opens at 8:30am, decided to start early, drive beyond the airport and have breakfast at Nani Hotel, Vijayapura (opens at 7:30am as per gmaps).
Ended up reaching the place exactly at 7:30 and had to wait till 8 before they started serving breakfast. Visited the Shiva temple nearby to spend some time.
Hot, runny Pongal with Vada, followed by Dosa were excellent, well worth the wait! The strong coffee didn't disappoint as well.

After breakfast, walked to Chikkaveeranna sweets which is just 2 streets away. The shop was closed, but a local asked us to ring the doorbell which we did and the owner opened the store just for us. Carried back some Mysore Pak and Tuppada Avalakki which were excellent clap:

Then drove to GKVK (reached by 9:15), bought the plants and headed back home, a morning well spent.

Last evening had been to Sanman Gardenia (located here). Had been there with my mom and 2 kids. Ample parking space and the plus point is the valet folks ask if you want to park yourself and guide you too.

Coming to the restaurant, we ordered Gobi Manchurian, phulkas, butter roti, paneer parota, and Dal Tadka. The food was excellent in taste, especially the phulkas and dal tadka. Kids loved them and gobbled it up. Mom liked the paneer parota and gobi. In the end, ordered jamoon and ice cream. One of the jamoons was not cooked completely but the other two were excellent. One small issue was with the service time. They took a lot of time in between dishes (around 15 mins min). This was when there were only around 2 more tables occupied. Overall I would rate the restaurant as 3.5/5.

Special mention to the guard there who went out of the way to entertain my kids when I went to park and also ensured they don't run away onto the main road. Maybe an extra 0.5 points for him there. :)
