Met an old friend after decades and another friend from HSR Layout recommended this place for breakfast - Shree Muthahalli Veg on 19th Main, HSR layout. Place did not disappoint, I tried the Rava idly and Ghee Dosa both were nice.
I was told the more authentic Karnataka dishes like Ragi mudde, etc are good, that's for another visit probably at lunch time :)

Am a regular at this place (twice daily) for my black coffee. Their breakfast/snack items are quite good. Love their sambar, not sweet like most other places. Wife loves their Thatte Idlis while I love their Vada and Rava Dosa.

Visited Arya's Kitchen , HSR layout yesterday. Tried Sabudana vada and kothimbir vadi. Good authentic taste. Yesterday's experience has motivated me to try their break fast menu on one of the days.

Also visited the Haldiram's new restaurant that has opened in HSR layout, near BDA complex. To start with, had to wait for 30 mins for a table. At the end it turned out to be complete waste of time and money. This place is just hype and nothing more. Chats in my neighbourhood darshinis taste better and they cost less than half.

Those familiar with Whitefield, specifically borewell road can try "Chowki" - a multicuisine restaurant near nallurahalli/borewell junction, above "Udupi foodhub" - nothing fancy, no liquor, quite tasty spread of N.Indian/coastal Karnataka fare. Found the offerings quite appealing to the tastebuds:thumbs up

A few days back we had been to Citrus trail cafe on the outskirts of Bangalore (Shivanahalli. location here). A very quaint place to enjoy reasonably good food (love the coffee/tea, veg momos, and the fresh-cut fries) along with a good walk around their property. There is also a small pond with a few benches around it to sit and enjoy the sunset.

P.S: No pets allowed & no alcohol. Recommended to reserve the table before visiting (they allow visits in the morning and evening). Also, there are bound to be some couples involved in PDA. Just thought of giving a fair warning. lol:

Punjabi (Dhaba) food aficionados - do give Manjit Da Dhaba, Frazer Town (location) a try. Kind of a hole-in-the-wall outlet with limited menu options but nevertheless excellent options. Completely veg (unfortunately), but the food is lip-smacking for sure.

We found it by chance one day and now we keep going back whenever the urge for good, homely-type punjabi food comes up. The food doesn't feel heavy at all and it is light on the wallet too.

Question to Bengalureans:
Asked a friend about best Mysore Pak and she told that Sri Venkateshwara Sweetmeat Stall at JP Nagar is the OG and best in town.

Question: Is the stuff from Sri Venkateshwara Sweetmeat Stall worth the premium?

Looks like Sri Venkateshwara Sweetmeat Stall has split into two, the way to identify is the blue packaging and the red packaging. Initially I was also under the impression that both are same later I found out the red packaging one is the OG and it is in Balepet and Malleshwaram. The Blue Packaging one has a factory in Yelechenahalli(Personally I did not like the taste of the sweets bought from their factory). If you are ever planning to pack some sweets from the balepet store please carry extra packaging material as the ghee just finds a way to come out of the packaging every single time.

My preference would always be the Gundappa hotel in City Market area, Sri Venkateshwara is too overrated IMO.

Never one to buy sweetmeats from fancy establishments, I wouldn't be the right person to comment on their prices. However, with good quality ghee costing a bomb nowadays, all related eatables are likely to cost significantly more.

While on the issue of prices, the Bengaluru Hotel Owners' Association is in the process of hiking prices of all food items because of rising input costs. Although unlikely to be of much significance for readers of this thread, the hikes will certainly be a cause of concern for the aam junta.

PS: It seems funny that while another thread on the forum is deliberating on the issue of How rich is actually rich?, we are splitting hairs about peanuts in here!

Fraser Town (Mosque Road -MM Road) is currently hosting a Ramadan food festival where non-vegetarian enthusiasts can come and savour the delicacies. Despite the steep prices in comparison to regular times, the atmosphere was bustling and lively, as evidenced by the huge turnout last weekend.

This is one of my favorite place for Masale dose, Uppittu and coffee. If you have not tried already, try their weekend meals as well. Really scrumptuous.

Yes it is. make sure you buy it from the Balepete shop.

True that prices are double from usual for some reason , be careful of rain though no shade exists.
