It is 4wd? @Manali
Thats a really cute pic of your son checking out the rear diff of the volvo! seems you have kept him very well informed.

Luke, thats some really good thought provoking question. What would it say? I too am intrigued. It must have groaned everytime I burned its clutch is steep muddy inclines or hit its underside or revved it to max as we lay in ditch led into by blinding fog but then everytime the engine was fired at late night, it would have smiled with joy - an overnight journey almost always was travel time for the known and unknown. BTW, it has saved our lives 3 thrice. Will be putting up 3 year/60k km summary report and will be putting some of its thoughts [!] as we interpret.
Now thats something! Isnt this the reason why we listen to our heart while buying cars? Waiting to read your ownership report...

by the way, awesome pics.

@adc: I think the deadline for polavaram project to be completed is 2014. However, I do not know the details whether papi kondalu will be submerged after a part of the project is completed.
You might be aware that there is huge debate going on whether the project construction should continue or not due to its impact on environment. Below is a link for anyone interested
India Together: At Polavaram, preparing to repeat a dammed history - 02 September 2006

Edit: Sorry for going OT.

Thanks much raj, glad that you like it. Ownership report update and 2 big travelogues remaining to be written - and by this month all has to be done with.

Guys, i stand by what I had said some time ago, Safari is undoubtedly a photographers delight, this time on a Heritage Drive, I tried consciously not to click the car as I have innumerable pics, but still could not resist a few:

Even when I am driving one, I keep looking at other Safaris . Only Fortuner is the other one to keep turning my head.

Nice pics Hari.

We have been extensively using the Safari, Clocked 1000 kms in the last 3 days. All due to my cousins wedding.

Within Bangalore, a to and fro visit to Chikka tirupathi, and again to Hassan and Back. That was too much in 3 days, but we had fun.

What is astonishing is, on our Hassan trip we achieved a FE of 13 kmpl (Reserve to Reserve readings)

All achieved due to sedate driving, an average of 90 kmpl, with A/C ON and 7 Adults and 1 Kid on board.

Also our Safari crossed the 30K mark.

European Version Safari?

Saw this pic on the net. Looks like a continental European version ( notice the left hand drive). Could it be Germany?

Wow - Whats that "Grand" Safari in the spare wheel cover ? I already like "Safari" cover better than the new "T" cover. Now, the "Grand Safari" is a killer !!!

And I see the same here too from SidIndica - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/attach...n-road-004.jpg

Is there any edition coming up for 15 year anniversary ?

Prem.

On a lazy Sunday

When Doc (SS-Traveller) asked me if I was interested in checking if the 4x4 was still working , I said "Why Not?". So off we went to the Aravallis & had some fun. Below are some pics I took on my 6700 slide. The Beast was in the august company of a Volvo, a Porsche & a Ford -

BJ, You have already done this to me multiple times and you know whom to connect with if the cover is stolen

On a serious thought, is there a possibility that we could get "Safari" cover from Tata stable ?

Prem.
