Hmm.. actually it wasn't that bright (the face) I increased the levels a bit higher - now I too think I shouldn't have done that. It was direct flash, not diffused light - another bad thing

I am little confused here, is this not the B&W/ Sepia fortnight? I tried to look for the change over announcement and failed to find it.

Nice shot TG and that's a very impressive high ISO performance. My camera sometimes will have more noise than this even at ISO400 in low light conditions, since it does nto do any noise reduction from ISO 100 to ISO 400, even though NR option is turned on.

Yeah, I am also quite impressed with the noise performance of the D700 at high ISOs. Here is one more, this is also at ISO 4000 with no noise reduction enabled. I dont enable Noise reduction within my camera as it softens the image up. When made to black and white, I actually like the slightly grainy look, it reminds me of film!
