My sister is having a lot of itching in skin folds and also arm pits for a few weeks now. There doesn't seem to be any rashes. Are there any medicines and creams which can be tried before visiting a doctor?

Use some antibacterial powder on the itching area and for the rashes try using petroleum jelly. Rashes should go away in 1-2 days

Guys, I am having dried, hard skin on my thumb, and if vaseline is not applied daily, it cracks and in extreme case - causes bleeding. The problem vanished totally while I was in Kolkata, but recurred when I came back to Bangalore (Dry weather in Bangalore to blame?) Remedies please ( I have tried boroline/petroleum jelly / calendula cream but no cure)

There are no rashes. Can you recommend some anti-bacterial powder? Also, can this be fungal rather than bacterial? Is there a way to distinguish?

Looks like you have psoriasis. I also have similar symptoms. When at coastal regions it goes off! Dunno how and why. Please consult a skin doc. I would suggest homoeopathy since it cures from the roots rather than superficial cure of the creams

+1 to that.. I used to be a smoker too.. I smoked around 2 packets a day for 30 years.. gave it up and now clean for the past 4 years.. The fact that the body wants nicotine is true but if ou can control this urge for a week the body adjusts to this and slowly heals itself..

If there is a will there is a way.. Khan Saab.. It's not worth it.. is my opinion..

Use neosporing. It's both antifungal and anti bacterial .

I've had a dental crown on one of my molars for the past year or two. About 10-15 days ago, I got a sudden pain and feeling on sensitivity 'under' it. It went away after a minute.

It has happened 4-5 times since then. The latest one lasted a while, so I'm a bit worried. As far as I can remember, I was never eating any of the times it happened. Any suggestions?

Also, can anyone suggest me a dentist in Hyderabad (Gachibowli area, preferably)? I'm a student here and have no clue of medical care in the city. Please feel free to PM me if you want.

Please mention your age and nature of pain, like is it radiating or localized to a particular area? Is it a sharp pain or dull-ache? And also how good did you feel after applying volini?

hi Pferdestarke,

I am 31 years, used to take company transport untill 2012. I get this pain as soon as i complete 10 KM of riding the bike.

The pain is specifically in the lower back area, the spine to be precise.

I can feel the pain by touching the spine, the pain doesn't spread to the muscles though. It remains for 30 minutes or so in the morning after reaching office. But at night after reaching home when I lie down that is when the pain is felt even more. Volini used to give me good relief but offlate I still feel my spine hard with dull pain when I wake up in the morning. But the good this is it vanishes as soon as I start my regular walk which is for 45 minutes with my dog.

I have been riding bikes since 2000 and this problem has started only from 2012. Maybe I am growing old or immunity levels falling down.

My daily commute is 56 KM.

Please suggest

Abhi do a blood test to check your uric acid levels. I have been having similar pains and finally isolated the problem to high uric acid levels.

This being caused due to irregular eating times and high intake of processed foods.

If you are experiencing any stiffness in the early hours of day, it could be a rheumatological disorder which needs further clinical and radiological evaluation. Let us try with simple medicine and exercises. Start this tablet (Diclofenac+serratiopeptidase) twice daily for 5 days and whenever the pain becomes intrusive, apply hot fomentation. Start doing these exercises. If the pain doesn't subside in a week, please don't hesitate to consult an orthopaedician. Hope this relieves your backpain.
