| I went to Aero India on feb 14th and was there for pretty much the entire day. I have about 150 odd pictures , but I wont post all of them here, since most are pretty much, already posted in the thread. I was there for the 2005 edition and I had video taped the proceedings back then. Thats why this time I landed up with my digital camera, cos I have never, ever gone back and viewed the video, barring once, when I showed it to a visitor from US. This time, as already pointed out, the Suryakiran team was not impressive by any stretch of imagination. I have watched them thrice before and never felt this way about them. Thankfully, that was the lone sore point in the entire show. paisa was vasool at the end! It was a treat to watch the F-16, FA 18, eurofighter and SU 30 in action. I am going to name the fighters (in pics below) with whatever knowledge I have, and with what information I can find on the internet. I may go wrong, so request the experts to correct me :-) Sorry but I just love talking  This is the Eurofighter typhoon by BAE systems. One of the most capable fighters in the world. It was pitched (mock combat exercises) against the likes of F-16s, FA-18 and came up trumps. I love the "after-burn"... or whatever it is called...  This is India's own LCA (Light combat aircraft), Tejas. R & D on the aircraft started in India in 1983, and production began only in the year 2007. At 110 crores, this is one of the cheapest fighters in the world. 110 crore rupees!!! 110 crore?? 110 what? lol  C-17 Globemaster manufactured by Boeing is an unique aircraft which can be seen lifting off. The landing distance is incredible small for an aircraft this big.  The DC -10 (Omega Tanker) is used for air to air refueling. One engine each under the wing area, and the third one just under the tail (The big noticable "bulge")  This should give you an idea of the holiday crowd that gathered in Bangalore. This is the static display area. In the background, a F16 can be seen taking off...  An IAF personnel takes rest under the protective shade (pun intended) of the SU-30 MKI  An f-16 lands, in the foreground is one of its biggest "headaches", the SU-30   The SU-30 MKI, looks menacing, even on the ground minus a pilot in the cockpit!  Remember Nicolas cage in Gone in sixty seconds? Ofcourse you do! These USAF (?) personal checking out the SU-30 reminded me of a certain scene. I swear, I heard one of the USAF guys say "unicorn". really, I am not lying! he he he I dont know what this is, but I dont want to be in the vicinity when they fire it!  |

| ` Here are a few more pictures, mostly the "other" side of show. The first few are the IAF's elite Garud commando team. The open jeep, with these bad boys in it with their weapons, ranging from AK 47s, to Insas rifles, pistols n knives. Brilliant!  I loved the AK-47... Wish I could have one in my lap when I am driving too!  Two other security personnel with their Insas rifles.  Man.. ever since I played sniper elite on PS2, I wanted to be a sniper. look through the scope, bammmm.  Does anyone know what sniper rifles are used by our commandos? Other than Garud...  The camaraderie shared by the airforce personnel of other nations is there for us to see?  50 MM gun on the MI 35  The shells for the same.
