Are Polarized lenses good, and worth the cost? And, are the rates mentioned above reasonable? Any other brand of lens I should be looking at.

If you want to cut UV, go for the Crizal Forte UV coating from Essilor on their Xperio lenses that are available in GreyGreen tint. MRP is 9000.

Nova lenses are pretty good too. The company that I work for integrated the PD measurement module for their Ipad app for this particular brand and they are good. I use a lens brand from their parent company for night driving and love it. Its called Driverwear Transitions Polarised. Unfortunately, you cannot have Crizal Fotre UV on them and only Crizal A2 is possible. MRP is 9000 again.

I would suggest Xperio with Crizal Forte UV coating for you.

Crizal forte Uv resists scratches,( not scratch proof) none are manufactured till date that is scratch proof. it however comes with a SR booster and is better in terms of resisting scratches.

Repels dust, water and grime- keeping your lenses clear and easier to clean.

Anti Reflective to make your lenses appear slimmer and mostly aesthetic.

and most importantly
Crizal forte UV is ESP 25, which means your eyes are 25 times better protected than without any lenses against UV.

Interesting thread, I have just entered the optical industry a year and a half back. Till now loving every bit of my work, it's an interesting field to work in. And it is quite fascinating to see how people nowadays are getting more and more particular about their eyewear, although many people also tend to neglect their eyesight problems including me :D

Me alongwith 2 other partners have also set up an online store few months back. The response is getting better month after month. This industry has alot of potential in India with many big players wanting to enter the market. I am currently running a B&M store and also an online store. Let me know if anyone of you requires any help regarding eyewear in general.

* Driverwear Transitions Polarised - Does this help with the glare from other vehicles high beam? If it does, I can sacrifice 100% UV protection and take these lenses instead. Can they be used in sunglasses (meaning are they dark lenses or transition based on sunlight)?

* I was told that Polarised lenses do not need anti-reflective coating. Is this an incorrect statement?

Where is your store located.

I had a very good experience with my requirements while in Bombay. Here in Dilli all the shop wants (whether stand alone or a chain) is to shove the highest priced lens without taking in to account what the customer wants.

I am not saying that I do not want the shop to make money on my sale/order but then does every sale have to be for top of the line products only.

I would like to have at least one shop wherein I can be assured that a given lens will not be unnecessarily shoved in to my frames.

Yes, they can be used on sunglasses upto 8 base curvature. Can you please attach a picture of your Police here?

The Drivewear are polarised transitions. It has a green hue indoor and the transition effect is brown.
Inside the cabin of your car, it will be green or light brown depending not on the sunlight but UV.
It is a false notion that many people who try to sell transition saying that the lenses become darker with sunlight. The transitions lenses turn dark on more exposure to UV and not sunlight. Silver crystals are activated by UV which make the lenses dark.
True. Polarised do not need additional coating. However coating will aid keeping your lenses cleaner and easier to maintain.

FYI, Pilots cannot use Polarised lenses as the dials black out.
