Are all sunglasses these days made of plastic and none have actual glass? Any budget glass type aviator design recommendations?

I had the same dilemma for very long.
Finally was able to get hold of Sarengetti while on. Trip to US. Best $110 I spent for actual glass.

Where in Bangalore can I find a good collection of Ray-Ban for trials (Indira Nagar, HSR, Koramangala)? Titan Eye+ stores have a very small collection only and never found a big enough outlet of Sunglass hut.

My first, an Aviator, is 14 yrs old now and looking a little worn out (but still my favorite). The second one is a Wayfarer and turning 7 but I never took to it completely. Recently got a nice Revo polarized(a first for me) piece as a gift and gave it to my father as he liked it. Now I am thinking of giving Clubmaster a try or get a new Aviator polarized (or simply stop dreaming:)).

Edit: Are RBs manufactured in India now? I saw a tag on a new RB piece where it said it was manufactured by Titan Industries. The ones I have a 'Made in Italy' tag.

This is what i use these days.

Really like how lightweight it is and does a fantastic job of keeping my eyes safe from the harsh sun.

Anecdote:
Polarised glasses are wonderful because they filter and enhance one’s vision and enhance colours etc.
Professional Pilots and Racing Drivers and all arent allowed to wear Polarised lenses but only lenses which cut UV rays.
Because Polarised glasses do interfere with the ability to read digital readouts and display gauges and instruments in the cockpit.
Incidentally one can easily see this for ones self by wearing a pair and trying to stand in the sun and use the mobile. It is strenuous!

Back to the topic.
I loved my old Maui Jims - but I gave them off to my friend.
I love my old Serengeti Drivers - they are still top class.
All my RayBans - Aviators and Wayfarers - especially those Made in Italy, are still first class.
The Porsche Design one is the lightest, because of the Titanium Frame. And it is the most stylish and desirable one that I own.
There is a D2C brand called OKNO - actually they are very nice!
One day I aspire to a pair of elegant Matsuda’s from Japan. And maybe like Pierce Brosnan, a pair of Persol (literally means ‘For Sun’. ) Or a pair of Oliver Peoples.
But frankly, not being a ‘Sunglasses Snob’, my simple humble Fastrack Sports glasses are also loved and perfectly fine to use! And so are my normal John Jacobs ones from Lenskart.

During my teens till mid thirties I wore contact lenses. So I could indulge in fancy sunglasses which I did.

However, I have a problem with one of my eyes so contact lenses are out. Since I need prescription sunglasses.

I have multi focal sunglasses. When I was still flying as a pilot in the USA I experimented a bit with different regular and multi focal (sun) glasses.

So ever since I always need to carry a pair of prescription sunglassses. Funnily enough, nobody seems to know much about prescription sunglasses glasses. The Internet is full of all kinds of stuff with respect to regular sunglasses. Much less when it comes to prescription sun glasses.

My wife just got herself one of these regular pairs of glasses that also darkens in the sunlight. She is very happy about it. These days those things respond quickly too.

Maybe I need to look into that as well.

Similar story. Teens not much, but once I started working really went pedal to the metal on sunglasses. Raybans and Oakleys were the rage then. Bought a few of them and I used to dig the wrap around Oakleys. In my mind, I was looking like Joe Satriani with the glasses and the bald pate.

Age caught up and they eyes took a toll. They went from reading to multi vocals. Out went most of the sun glasses. The last one I had was a John Lennon type from Rayban and I was sad to see it go. Missus kept saying I looked like Ozzy sans hair.

Today, I have a progressive lens with photo chromatic layer - DKNY frame with Carl Zeiss lens as my daily runner. Since colourless frames were the rage went for that. Missus says I look younger by at least a decade. And so, for my last birthday missus got me an Oakleys prescription glasses, but only for long vision. This has now become my outdoor unit. And now, like good old days of the 90s I move around with 2 glasses when I step outside the house !!!
