Canary Black (Prime) - 3/5

"Canary Black" is a one time watch action/thriller. Kate Beckinsale, much like Charlize Theron, play bada** women with aplomb. "Canary Black" has elements of the film "Taken" with Liam Neeson, and "Atomic Blonde" with Charlize Theron.

Mixed feelings. At one point, the MI scripts were memorable, surpassing the Bond films. The first one was the best and even till Ghost Protocol, they were really good. Since then I can't really tell them apart, can't even remember how the last couple of installments were different. Too many of them and too many things happening to make up the plot.

I tried watching Argylle.
However, I couldn't get past the first 10 minutes owing to the supremely idiotic CGI.
Can anyone comment on the movie, if its worth persevering?

I will agree with you on that. Infact I couldn't even watch the last one - dead reckoning. It was dead for me atleast, I switched over to another movie in the middle. It's become like those Fast and Furious movies - keep extending and milking the name.

But there is something about Tom Cruise and his running scenes (he's 62 now n still running like 30 yrs back) that keeps pulling you back

Did you see this on an Indian subscription? I could not find this on Amazon Prime - not even in the “Rent” category.

Thanks.

No, please save yourself! We struggled to the first half hour and then the idiotic CGI gave way to idiotic acting, idiotic dialogues and idiotic plotting lol:

Also in the same zone would be 'Red Notice' which is slightly more bearable since it has Ryan Reynolds, The Rock and Gal Godot.

If you want to watch a light-hearted actioner, watch 'The Other Guys'. It's the most stupid fun film I've seen. Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell playing detectives, both not the best, both are 'the other guys' in the department. Mad fun. And has such an interesting end credits slate I'm still stunned studios allowed it to be put out there since most of them would be complicit in what it was listing out!

Like Evyas said, this is a horrible, 0/5 movie.
I like cats and I thought Argylle was the cat's name and that the cat plays important role- its not. Sorry for the spoiler but this movie needs every spoiler written out in bold to scare people away.

I agree. It’s getting repeatable with the focus on more stunts and more convoluted plots. I was/am so fatigued by the MI series, I didn’t even get around to see the last instalment. And I don’t think I’m alone there - the last movie hasn’t been that successful at the box office.

Thanks! I watched Primer (probably needs multiple re-watch) and Caddo lake. They were great :Cheering:.

Recommendation - try watching Locke (2013) starring Tom Hardy. Absolutely brilliant conceptualisation and execution. The entire movie features only one character and drives the story through phone calls.

A very different side of Tom Hardy (compared to Mad Max) and shows his versatility. A must watch!

Deadpool and Wolverine

Streaming: Hotstar

This film left me confused, I just couldn't gauge the plot even after sitting for 2 hrs. I just felt irritated at the Ryan Reynold's continuous blabbering. Cheap jokes trying to be clever but ending up with cringe. Poor Hugh Jackman for getting pulled into such a movie. Totally disappointed from the franchisee, I hope it ends with this movie. Another worst Marvel movie.

Rating: 1.5/5

er, that's how Deadpool is in the comic world itself :) Can't blame Ryan for being true to the character :D

And calling for an end to a successful franchise just because you didn't like it seems awfully selfish i must say.

It Ends With Us Netflix

Loved the movie about a lady who finds herself in a situation which she dreaded and hated all her life. Nothing spectacular as such but a nice watch. Based on a book by the same name, the movie is primarily about domestic and emotional abuse. Worth a watch.

Rating: 3/5

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs: (Netflix)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6412452/

"Six tales of life and violence in the Old West, following a singing gunslinger, a bank robber, a traveling impresario, an elderly prospector, a wagon train, and a perverse pair of bounty hunters."

Just an amazing piece of cinema. Brilliant ode to the wild wild west. 6 stories that take you through a myriad of emotions.

4/5

Charlie Wilson's War: (Prime)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472062/

"A drama based on a Texas congressman Charlie Wilson's covert dealings in Afghanistan, where his efforts to assist rebels in their war with the Soviets have some unforeseen and long-reaching effects."

Tom Hanks played a good role but felt Philip Seymour Hoffman really aced his character.

How the USA ended up arming the Afghans to fight against the Russians and how it ended.

3/5

Brooklyn's Finest (Prime)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472062/

"Three unconnected Brooklyn cops wind up at the same deadly location after enduring vastly different career paths."

A very dark and dreary movie that weighs your emotions down. Just so bleak. As a movie it was ok, but not really something to recommend.

3/5

Gone Baby Gone (Prime)

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0452623/

"Two Boston area detectives investigate a little girl's kidnapping, which ultimately turns into a crisis both professionally and personally."

Based on a book and ably directed by Ben Affleck movie strikes a very emotional chord and the end really begets the question as to what is right and wrong...
